  I think, while postback you are reloading the control (using your LoadControl method). If so, then your viewstate will be no longer valid. Please post the code of loading the control (aspx.cs code).

  Try to save your dataset and your bytestream. If you can open your saved bytestream in paint as image then there is some other problem. I feel the image is not proper and will not open. Alternatively you can ues barode fonts which can generate barcodes for you as text. These get scanned easily & there size can be easily adjusted.

  HTTPHandlers are used for differenct pursposes. These are a part of request processing and webservices are a part of SOA in which service provider is configured separately. HTTPHandlers can handle different types of request like displaying an image etc. HTTP handlers are the .NET components that implement the System.Web.IHttpHandler interface. Any class that implements the IHttpHandler interface can act as a target for the incoming HTTP requests. HTTP handlers are somewhat similar to ISAPI extensions

  As per my understanding this code will execute when requested by a web page. This should work fine as I am also using the same in my app. May I know, how are you attaching it in the mail. Using code or some client end mechanism?

  Oracle Client that you have installed on local development machine is different from the production one. If this is same, are u using different oracle db server for development and production. Install the compatible client on development server
