Re: attempting pure css layout for the following design
I would go look at the source for the examples here ( http://www.projectseven.com/whims/cssp_3box/index.htm ) after you've looked through that for a while you should be able to do what you want pretty easy. On the other hand why not invest in a good book on CSS? I read the first edition of this ( http://www.simplebits.com/publications/bulletproof/ ) book and it was very good. HTH.

Re: Before I get started on Web.Sitemap???
I thought I saw this a while ago mentioned on http://asp.net site. Take a look at this tutorial by Scott Mitchell on how to write a site map provider for sql server - http://www.asp.net/learn/data-access/tutorial-62-vb.aspx .

Re: IE6 width issue compared to IE7. Stylesheet or .NET?
This is a problem with your CSS. What is the container? a div? Can you paste the CSS that goes with the container to control its layout? The best thing to do is to actually go ahead and use the CSS Control Adapters so you have a cleaner DOM to programme against with your CSS when working specifically with server controls. http://www.asp.net/cssadapters/

Re: Community Server 2.1 v/s 3.0
The only thing that I found was that they were using a new UI framework based on masterpages...other than I don't know what else has changed.

Re: Ajax Hosting Question
Hosting companies that support ASP.NET AJAX will have the assembly installed in the GAC so you don't need to have anything in the bin like you did with pre beta 1 (I think I remember it being installed in the GAC then) versions of ASP.NET AJAX. You simply need to make the nesseccary changes in your web.config. I think if you create an ASP.NET Futures site then in the web.config you will be referencing the later version of the ASP.NET AJAX bits which should also be installed in the GAC. HTH.
