Re: DNN Site Indexing/Ranking
I'm just in the middle of getting my site spidered. At first I thought it was a grave mistake to use DNN because both google and MSN only visited my main page and the quit. But now, slowly my site is getting more and more references (more pages indexed). It's advisable to make a google sitemap. Next to the fact that google will spider you bettet you also get some feedback on keywords it found etc.. The 2nd part is to increase you pagerank. It's very important to have some real content on your site

Re: Who's got the fastest DNN Site? Look'n for Speed!!
Also.. I'm 99% sure that by default IIS compression does NOT compress results of ASPX pages. It only compresses static HTML pages.

Re: Who's got the fastest DNN Site? Look'n for Speed!!
Portavista. I do agree with you somhow but I have a few points. Most DNN sites are just PAINFULLY slow.. Why ? Because it's a big framework with much bloathed code/html. When you have a good server + bandwidth there is no problem and DNN runs very good. But on more amateuristic environments DNN is friggin slow.. On low bandwidth server Blowery (which is NOT iis compression) helps a TON!! Really it makes a world of difference. We need to find out what makes DNN run so slow because I think it's really

Isn't website optimization just measuring download size ? This one here measures the time to process requests This Are there more sites like this ??

Re: Who's got the fastest DNN Site? Look'n for Speed!!
My stuff : - Blowery - Table based design BUT no big container table. (so the site does not have to be loaded completely before rendering on client side) - Not much standard modules except HTML. - Not too much viewstate - Shared hosting but with much bandwidth

Re: DotNetNuke DAL - Do I really need it?
My 2 cts. DAL : When you plan to reuse or when other people must work with it. Direct dataset : In all other cases. Strong typed datasets when that is your preference (it's my preference)

Re: Blowery Compression and Open ViewState
It look likes the port80 software it cuts off my urls.. ?? With the friendly url it says that it is not compressed but the page size = 4040 bytes.. While I know that it is about 360Kb... It also reports the URL wrong... (cut off) So I think it's reporting on the dotnetnuke error page. when you use friendly urls. With the old tabid=XX it reports compression but in this case with me. the url is still cut off.. By accident it evaluates to an url for which dotnetnuke can render a page. Anyways... 4040

Re: Creating DotNetNuke MultiPage Modules
The stupid thing is. Everything is working ok. Only.. When I view the details of a person. The control with controlkey "details" is displayed in the admin skin . his means that for instance my left and right panes are gone ... I'm thinking about splitting up the module in multiple modules. BUT.. That would be stupid if I wanted to publish my module for downloading. "My new persons module" - 1 module for selection - 1 module for viewing a person - 1 module for editing a person Etc. etc. All this functionality
