thats what I thought as well. But it will not even compile or auto sense for these new items until I update the designer.cs file with the declaration. pl. remember I am using Web Application project and not web site.

designer.cs is not automatically updated
In my VS 2005 Web Application Project, when I add something like a textbox in the design mode, the designer.cs is not automatically updated with a declaration. Is there something I am missing?

Why is Visual Studio IDE version binded to the Framework version?
The VS IDE is always linked to a particular version of the framework. For example VS 2002 was linked to .Net 1.0, VS 2003 to .Net 1.1 and currently VS 2005 to .Net 2.0. I understand some of the features of the IDE are linked to that frame work version. But should the IDE not be backward compatiable? We should be able to option which framework the IDE needs to use. I would love to use some of the new VS 2005 IDE features while still working with .Net 1.1 projects. Is this because it is too hard to
