Re: Problem with VS 2008 FTP
I'd suggest logging the issue at connect.microsoft.com, or open a support call. This seems to be the only way to get items resolved.

Re: VS2005 IDE: Add Web Refernece. A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond
Lois, That is SUPER :) I'll try that syntax out. Did you ever try connecting to the WS outside of VS?

Please update this page https://connect.microsoft.com/VisualStudio/feedback/ViewFeedback.aspx?FeedbackID=283035 as it is monitored by MSFT.

Yeah, tried that. No change. So what is VS doing differently that other apps? Why does VS have soo much trouble?

The only solution I found was to install VS on the server. Chime in here, perhaps MS will listen if more than one of us complains. https://connect.microsoft.com/VisualStudio/feedback/ViewFeedback.aspx?FeedbackID=283035

VS2005 IDE: Add Web Refernece. A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond
I have published a web service, but cannot connect to it in VS2005. The Web Methods display, but I then get this error: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond I CAN connect to it outside of VS2005 from IE, Stylus Studio, etc.

I too am having this type of issue, and tried the suggested fix (I assumed the change went on the web service server's web.config). Lets see if someone from Microsoft can explain.

Re: writing custom web service sharepoint 2007
The sample is valid for 2007 as well. Check out Erika Ehrli's blog regarding v2 implementation, with notes from others on v3 .

Master page and unique images for sub-sites. Relative imageurl?
I have a site and sub-site structure using Sharepoint 2007(please read on) and it's support for asp.net Master Pages. I want the image at the Client-#-home level to be unique so each client site and below will have unique branding. I have this tag in my top level master page, but when the page is rendered at the client level and below, it continues to reference the root web?!? Why? I've tried the following: <asp:Image runat="server" id="Image1" ImageUrl=" images/AreaLogo.gif "/> Renders with
