Re: New design....
I have to agree... the new design seems quite ugly; almost old-school basic with overly bright color pallete and what appears to be a lot more ads... I vote to revert.

Re: Beta 1 appears to function differently..
So I did some more reading about the changes, and it appears I have to use the RegisterAsyncPostBackControl() method to add my timer control as an event that should fire an asynchronous postback, and then all my handling works as it use to. Makes sense and is probably more logical.

Beta 1 appears to function differently..
I have a page that is broken into a master page, a couple user controls, and the normal page body. The user control contains a script manager and an update panel, and the content page contains an update panel and timer control. I have the script manager set to enable partial rendering. In the CTP version the page worked as follows: 1. Script Manager in user control 2. Timer control in content page 3. When the timer control ticked, a partial postback occured and checked whether or not a viewstate

Re: Can I update a label outside of an update panel?
If the label was inside of an update panel on the master page, you could achieve this.

Re: Update Panel - "Unknown Error" popup
For me, I found it best to just override the alert() function of javascript on my master page. I don't use the alert method for anything except debugging, so having Atlas throw this error was something I wanted to avoid. Sure the user's session might expire or something causing the atlas error, but since the page's main goal was to act as a polling service, error's to it were not a huge problem, and if the user clicks away from the page, the rest of the app would handle the session

Re: Unknown error
Speaking of this "Unknown Error", is there just a way to disable the javascript alert for Atlas? If a session expires and Atlas has an issue functioning, I'd rather not throw the error in Javascript, rather just have the page handle it when something outside an update panel happens.

Re: Can't get Atlas to work in a masterpage
Try this in your web.config: <xhtmlConformance mode="Transitional"/> That's what worked for me with master pages.

Re: Unofficial bug/issue list for the Atlas CTP
My experience: META tags break partial post backs. <xhtmlConformance mode="Legacy"/> is not fully supported (Master Pages -> GridView -> Item Template)

Re: Master Pages, Grid Views, Item Templates and Atlas
Well , I've figured it out thanks to process of elimination: In the web.config: < xhtmlConformance mode="Transitional"/> works < xhtmlConformance mode="Legacy"/> does not. Frustrating to say the least, but for those that seem to be having the same problem I was, that might fix it for you....

Re: Master Pages, Grid Views, Item Templates and Atlas
Yes, I did make some progress, but it's progress in that it seems ridiculous to actually implement the workaround in any application in hopes that the next release will correct the issue. So, the problem is, that controls that exist dynamically, like those that are inside a gridview row, are not "caught" by Atlas when they initiate a postback inside an update panel. Controls that exist outisde of other controls are caught by Atlas and the update panel refreshes correctly. So, if I have a search field
