Re: Offline Address Book Problem
Not sure why users are unable to download existing OAB's, you may want to work with PSS to troubleshoot that. But please understand that it is *by design* in HMC that an OAB is not created until the first MAPI-enabled user gets created. So here's an example of how it works: Create a new business org [no OAB] Mail-enable that business org, assign it an SMTP domain and available plans like gold and Platinum [no OAB] Create a user [no OAB] Mail-enable that user with the Gold plan, which does not include

Deployment Automation features in the HMC 3.5 deployment tool
The HMC 3.5 deployment tool carries out a lot of automated tasks, with somewhat mysterious names like "Initialize Active Directory for Hosting". Many customers have asked me what it is actually doing to their Active Directory configuration! This info is actually buried in the HMC 3.5 documentation (in the Deployment Automation Appendix), but I have created a simple listing of what each step actually does. I've posted it on the new implement.com HMC blog - http://implement-hmc.spaces.live.com/ Stay

Re: Distibution lists disapear from GAL and Offline address list
the Domain recipient update service should be disabled in HMC 3.5. MPS is responsible for stamping 'showInAddressBook' instead of RUS. Regards, Vlad

Re: HMC Consolidated Platform DWM.5 MPS Deployment Tool Error
Hi Sakhara, Can you verify that you have a group called Windows-based Hosting Service Accounts in the Users container in Active Directory? in DWM.5, the deployment tool tries to do the following things: Configure MOM Service Account Steps Performed : 1. Add the MOMService account to the Windows-based Hosting Service Accounts group 2. Grant the following user rights to the MOMService account on the MOM servers specified in <serverName>: Act as part of the operating system Create a token object

Re: Permissions in GAL and AL
also, keep in mind that the address books don't get created until the first MAPI-enabled user gets created. So you could create a new org, and create some users with POP/IMAP plans, and there would still be no address books. Make sure to create some users with the Platinum Plus plan. HTH Vlad

Re: Billing Info HMC 3.5
If you installed the Monitoring and Reporting pieces of the HMC 3.5 solution, it includes WMI data collection tools that gather all of this information, and submit it to a database. In addition, all provisioning activity (upsell, downsell, new customers, etc) are also gathered. Then you use SQL Reporting Services to run reports by day, week, month, year, etc.. This is the best way to get at that info. -Vlad

Re: Verify MPS and MPS Web services are running correctly and that the web.config are set correctly
just wondering - have you defined a UPN login for this user? when the user logs in to the control panel, are they logging in using UPN or SAMAccountName?

Re: There were no ranked resources
this message often crops up when the organization you are trying to create mailboxes for has run out of available resources. Using the Sample Web, bring up your organization, go to the Exchange Hosting tab, and review how many Mailstore Megabytes and Publicstore Megabytes are still free. You may need to increase this number significantly. Hope this helps -Vlad

Re: Server Error in '/MPSSampleWeb' Application.
domain controllers significantly lock down all aspects of ASP.NET security. Instead of tearing your hair out trying to get the sample web working on a DC (or a machine that used to be a DC), I would strongly recommend installing the MPS web services and the MPS sample control panel on a machine that is just a domain member. -Vlad
