  You are correct, there is no easy access to GACUTIL if you only have VWD 2008 installed, as far as I could ascertain. However you can drag and drop the DLL using windows explorer into c:\windows\assembly (copy and paste not available - you must drag and drop) If you are using .net 3.5 that should be all you need to do (worked for me) For earlier .net versions you will need to edit the machine.config file which you will find in C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\ your .net version \CONFIG .   I'm not sure you can necessarily call this bug, although the documentation on expected behaviour, as with all the AJAX base and toolkits controls is scant. However as long as you ensure the control raising the event is in an update panel, and include your updateprogress control in the same panel (with it's AssocUpdatePanelID set to this panel) you shouldn't find any problems. • ValidatorCalloutExtender with TextBoxWatermarkExtender conflict?

  Using latest build of control toolkit released last few days. Am I alone in finding that the ValidatorCallout will not recognise a textbox as empty if it is attached to a RequiredFieldValidator, if you have TextBoxWatermark enabled too. Not calling this a "bug" as it makes sense. I assume there won't be a way around this : let me know if there is or if it will be looked at. However it might be worth pointing this out to people in future (when the docs are written).

  Thanks for taking the time to reply Kris.. you speak a lot of sense... Yes, it's SO done now, just doing the testing cycle etc. Greedy for new toys. (don't we always) I'm in a team of one here in my company which doesn't help .. no peers to bounce off intellectually.. I guess I was looking for people to tell me "go for the new stuff" and I as you say are tempted, but I know you're right.! However, really appreciate your comments!! .. thanks Kris!

• Slightly confused, looking for help from the community here

  I've been working for most of this calendar year on a webapp in dotnet 1.1 with VS2003. Target launch date is feb 2006 however. Can those that know give any advice on whether it is worth it this late in my project to convert.. the extra features sound tempting at one level, the amount of work to upgrade seems a little unknown (to me at least).. anyway guys just a bit of friendly pros/cons would be good. thanks! PS I finally got my Spring CTP beta2 DVDs today.. hmm a week before the real launch. grr
