  • Re: Ultima Hosts Problems

I'm with WebHost4Life now (and happy after a week). I still have my Ultima account, but only until my migration is complete. I've written about my transition and experiences with various hosters over the years at: http://www.dllhell.net/index.php/category/hosting/

Browser cache is a wonderful thing. I have both threads saved locally... I've already started switching my sites over to a new host. I had one host in the past, who was terrible, but at least when they screwed up would punish themselves by rewarding their clients with free add-ons.

  • Re: Ultima Hosts Problems

I have been with Ultima for nearly 2 years. There have been some problems, but until this weekend none too major. I've had enough though. They've had a box with my MySQL space that's been down for over 48 hours. I have 3 sites that are down as a result.

  • Re: Shared Hosting Control Panels

A user's perspective... I've had four hosts this year alone. With four hosts I've used three CPs… HSphere had some nice features. One that I really liked was that I was easily able to map domain aliases to subdomains. It had a pretty nice file manager too. But it doesn't allow for FTP user management (beyond one) and the protected directories UI was horrible. Overall, it's OK... but the worst of the three, IMHO. Helm 3 isn't the friendliest UI to navigate. It's easy to get "lost" in there... I wish

I've had three shared hosts in the past year. I can't say I'd recommend any of them. 1. Exist Hosting - just don't. They have the worst tech support ever. 2. ASPnix - These guys are ok. The package is good for the price, but they won't customize trust settings so you won't be able to use libraries like Spring.NET, ActiveRecord or NHibernate. 3. HostingFest - I'm with them now. Decent tech support, good features for the price, but (and this is a big but), they've had at least three major outages since

  • Re: Spring.NET and Shared Hosting

Thanks for the suggestions. Actually, I followed your signature link to HostingFest.com and they've set me up with what I needed.

  • Spring.NET and Shared Hosting

Does anyone have any experience using Spring.NET in a shared hosting environment? If not Spring.NET, has anyone worked with a host who is willing to customize trust levels? The problem I'm having is that Spring requires unrestricted ReflectionPermission, which is not available in medium trust environments. My current host ASPnix, does not allow for custom trust levels. So I have to choose between Spring and ASPnix. Though I have no complaints about ASPnix, I'd rather not have to stop using Spring
