Re: default.aspx get's executed when calling any other page
To sum up this post: As described above - the default.aspx gets executed with every page that I call on my website. The reason why I know it is because of an code placed in the codebehind file of default.aspx which sends out an email. I also tried placing an response.write within the code behind but this wouldn't change anything on my screen. Means that no html get's written back to the browser from the default.aspx. I now renamed the default.aspx and everything is still working fine. No

Re: default.aspx get's executed when calling any other page
It seems that I found the source of the problem. I have an user control which holds the menu of the website. Here`s the code. < asp : Menu ID ="MMenu" MaximumDynamicDisplayLevels ="2" SkipLinkText ="" DynamicPopOutImageUrl ="~/App_Themes/Standard/Images/MMenuDynPopOutImage.gif" StaticPopOutImageUrl ="~/App_Themes/Standard/Images/MMenuPopOutImage.gif" DynamicEnableDefaultPopOutImage ="False" StaticEnableDefaultPopOutImage ="False"

Re: default.aspx get's executed when calling any other page
Regarding this commented code I just followed instructions. However this code is like this since month and I haven't changed anything on IIS - still using IIS 5 locally and IIS6 on the server. So this can't be the reason. What else could be the problem?

Re: default.aspx get's executed when calling any other page
There it is: <? xml version = " 1.0 " ?> < configuration xmlns = " http://schemas.microsoft.com/.NetConfiguration/v2.0 " > <!-- START: ASP AJAX Specific --> < configSections > < sectionGroup name = " system.web.extensions " type = " System.Web.Configuration.SystemWebExtensionsSectionGroup, System.Web.Extensions, Version=1.0.61025.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35 " > < sectionGroup name = " scripting "

Re: default.aspx get's executed when calling any other page
Hi and thanks for your response. Note sure what page I created how - there are over 100 of them and things crew over time, but the inherit attribute and the class name in the page behind file are fine. I always change them if I create a copy from another file. It seems that this problem has been created recently and it effects all pages within the website. Markus

Re: default.aspx get's executed when calling any other page
Hi: "Default.aspx" occurs 13 times within the whole site and none of them can cause this problem. What else could it be? Markus

default.aspx get's executed when calling any other page
Hi: When I call any page within my website, the page default.aspx gets also executed every time any page loads. First the called page itself executs and then 2 times default.aspx. If I write something like response.end within the page_load event of default.aspx it has no effect (when calling any other page then default.aspx). But if I place some email sending code at the same place I do receive the email what shows that the code get's executed. This is quite important because it causes a problem

Re: Working with ReadXml
Hi Steve: Thanks for your reply, I already thought about using application.lock but never read about it so I was not quite sure if it would work. Thanks for your reply, I will try to do it like this, Markus
