  I think you may have a .NET Framework setup issue. Can you please try creating a new .NET Framework 3.5 website, open the "Default.aspx" page, switch to Design View, and drag a Button onto the page? By the way, can you let us know what operating system your using?

  Good news, I can't reproduce the bug on the most recent internal build. This suggets that the bug has been fixed, and will probably be fixed in final version of Visual Studio 2008.

  Sometimes unregistering ASP.NET from aspnet_regiis can change the ASP.NET version. Can you make sure the ASP.NET version is set to "2.0.50727" and list any other versions available?

  It may be best to talk to the authors of FCKeditor. Because it's a third party tool, many of the forum participants and most Microsoft employees on the forum do not have experience with FCKeditor.

  Unfortunately, there's a bunch of stuff you have to remove after uninstalling Orcas Beta 1, as described at http://download.microsoft.com/download/d/d/1/dd18043a-fe86-4f57-ac22-791b30e6f04b/VSReadme.htm#General%20Issues .   You may run into a few problems, but it should more or less work. Here a couple problems you could run into: 1. Visual Studio 2008 solution files cannot be opened in Visual Studio 2005, and Visual Studio 2008 needs to convert Visual Studio 2005 solutions before opening them. As long as your projects are websites without solutions, this shouldn't be a problem. 2. When prompted, do not upgrade to .NET Framework 3.5 3. AJAX 1.0 support is limited in Visual Studio 2008, but some workarounds are described

  I'm not sure when the official release date is for .NET Framework 2.0 SP1, but it should have minimal changes. Most of the changes we've been making to .NET Framework 2.0 have been critical bug fixes. You should have very few problems deploying .NET Framework 2.0 SP1 applications on .NET Framework 2.0 machines. As long as your project is configured to target .NET Framework 2.0, you're unlikely to have any problems.

  To clarify, did you place the default web.config in your project that won't open? And are you using the builtin web server on IIS6?
