Re: SharePoint Server Portal 2007 and VB.NET
The webpart is just a class and webparts are identified in asp.net 2.0 as System.Web.UI.WebControls.WebParts Sample Public Class GenericList Inherits WebPart "Properties" <WebBrowsable(), WebPartPages.WebPartStorage(WebPartPages.Storage.Shared)> _ Public Property ListName() As String Get Return _ListName End Get Set ( ByVal value As String ) _ListName = value End Set End Property <Personalizable()> _ Public Overrides Property Title() As String Get Return MyBase .Title End Get

Re: Classic ASP and Web.config
OK this is the way it turned out, in order for it to read the connection string it had to go in the machine.config. just using the web.config and placing it in the root directory did not work.

Re: Classic ASP and Web.config
They are Trying to retrieve it by reading it through configuration manager, so that we do not have to do something different on each server that has old code and new code. Eventually we will get to all .net code, but that may take a while.

Re: Classic ASP and Web.config
Let me see if I can explain this a Little better, we have a site that has been running vb6 components until Now, when another team converted the VB6 components to .net 2.0 they decided to read a configuration file using the configuation Manager to retrieve the Connection string for the Database. If you place a web config File under the root directory for a site and selct the tab that says asp.net 2.0 the .net components are supposed to be able to read that web.config file. In other words if I look

Classic ASP and Web.config
Is it possible for a asp.net 2.0 dll to read a web.config file from an asp site. We have the web.config there, but it does not seem to be retrieving the Connection string. We have the same web.config that is running for Other 2005 Applications on another server and it works fine. If I look under asp.net confiuration the Connection string is There but the component is saying that it is missing...Any Suggestions????

Re: rendercontrol inside a webpart
You have to create the control in the createchildControls Section, Then add that to the controls collection of the webpart. me.controls.add(Treeview) hope this helps...
