  • Re: HOWTO: Manual install of DotNetNuke on GoDaddy.com

Anthony, Not sure if you've done this but I had the same error on my 1st attempt to install. In my case I didn't copy the release.config to web.config (I mistakenly copied 03.01.00.config to web.config). Don't forget to edit the web config for your DB settings. John

  • Re: Gallery module install fails - DNN 3.1 on godaddy

I found the answer at this link: http://forums.asp.net/953782/ShowPost.aspx . You have to replace a line in the gallery.dnn file. See the link for details. After making this change the install worked fine.

  • Gallery module install fails - DNN 3.1 on godaddy

I have DNN 3.1 installed on a godaddy hosted site (manual install not the 1-click install). I tried to install the gallery module (GalleryPA_3[1].0.10) downloaded from dotnetnuke. On the module install I get the error below. The error happens at the start of the Registering DesktopModule portion. ExceptionSystem.ArgumentNullException: Value cannot be null. Parameter name: type at System.Activator.CreateInstance(Type type, Boolean nonPublic) at DotNetNuke.Framework.Reflection.CreateObject(String TypeName

  • Re: HOWTO: Manual install of DotNetNuke on GoDaddy.com

I found the documentation and fixed the problem. I made the following change to the web.config file - about the 29th line. Changed true to false and the portal install completed successfully. <add key="UseDnnConfig" value="false" /> Thanks thekubrix! Y our help with this install has been excellent. I'm sure many godaddy customers down the line will benefit from your effort. John

  • Re: HOWTO: Manual install of DotNetNuke on GoDaddy.com

Copying the release.config to web.config and making the edits got rid of the error. But now I have this error. ----- DotNetNuke Upgrade Error The Assembly Version ( [ASSEMBLYVERSION] ) does not match the Database Version ( [DATABASEVERSION] ) ERROR: Could not connect to database. The stored procedure 'dbo.GetPortalAliasByPortalID' doesn't exist. ----- I checked my DB and no tables have been created - do I need a DSN? Any suggestions. Thanks again for your help (is there any documentation on the install

Pat, I had the same problem and was advised to copy the release.config file to web.config . (thx thekubrix). See this thread. I haven't tried it yet though. Hope this works. John

  • Re: HOWTO: Manual install of DotNetNuke on GoDaddy.com

I've been struggling with getting a manual dnn install on godaddy so I really appreciate you taking the time to document this. I used the directions but am still having issues. Maybe I missed something. In following the steps I did not find a web.config file anywhere in the unzipped files (step 2). I renamed the 03.01.00.config file to web.config. Is the right thing to do? I modified the DB settings and custom error messages in the web.config file as directed and uploaded the DNN 3.1.0 source files

  • web.config / install on godaddy

I'm new to DNN and am trying an install on a godaddy site. I've found alot of good info but I haven't seen how to actually run the install. From what I can tell I need to set some file permissions ( I know how to do that), FTP DNN install to my site (no problem), set up database (done). Now how do I actually start the install? Do I need to create a web.config file or is one created as part of the install? If I need to create how do I do it? I've looked for install docs but didn't have any luck. Thanks

  • Re: HELP - godaddy and DNN problem..

Thanks to all for your input on this issue. I went to the website you recommended ( http://www.projectx2.net/dnn/Domains/tabid/53/Default.aspx ) and will pursue doing a manual install instead of the '1-click' install. Hopefully I can get this to work. I've been happy with godaddy but I want to use dnn... so if I can't get this to work I may look at other host providers that have better dnn integration / support. I'll update with the results of the manual install - may be a few days.

Thanks Dan, I'll see what I can find out. So far godaddy just says that there's nothing they can do.
