  • How to restore an accidentally deleted module with content

Novice Problem: Active Forums 3.5 module was accidently deleted from a page. Ouch ! I made the mistake of giving a novice SuperUser privileges and he accidentally clicked on the Module control arrow and selected Delete and blew away the module from that page. Of course I can re-insert the module but there is no content! I know the content is still there safe and sound in the database because I can see it if I type in a known URL from previously saved links. Fortunately it is a non-profit underwater

  • Re: Almost there: Development to Production process?

I really appreciate your follow up and help. I am still not where I want to be but I achieved some success last night by trying something different. After four tries at trying to create a Parent Portal from the development portal template, I decided to create a CHILD portal from same development template instead of a PARENT portal. I called the alias www.cupsonline.net/cups and this worked! That apparently satisfied the previous "duplicate Portal alias" error conflict. The only problem is I want

  • Re: Please supply Sample Web.Config for DNN 3.1.0

I have waited 3 days to post this for fear of being flogged in public since I'm new to DNN but it seems I'm not the only one who has had these problems. With all due respect, the docs are not clear. On page 7, this paragraph appears (referring to web.config). "If you are installing v3.1, before doing anything else rename [this] file to web.config." Oops. "this" file is not named? You have to read ahead to page 10 for the very first mention of the existence of "release.config". I agree the user has

  • Re: Cannot create Parent or Child in 3.0.12

Server environment : W2000 server with MSDE. This is my own machine and I have a single IP address with about 20 virtual domains. These virtual domains are resolved by a third party running DNS for me. All websites are running smoothly. In my attempt to create parent/child portals and based on smehaffie's comments, I decided to go back to square one and start over with fresh database and a clean install of DNN 3.1.0. Since I have a "live" website that I use for testing, I cleared it out and copied

  • Gallery 3.0.1.0 not properly installing

I have one test computer where the Gallery 3.0.1.0 (on DNN 3.0.12) works fine. It appears in the <Select a Module> drop down as "Gallery". However, after a clean install of DNN 3.1.0, I tried installing the Gallery module using the same method ( /install/install.aspx?mode=InstallResources ) The results show everything installed without an error. And, in fact I can see the new Gallery folder with the appropriate files as expected. However, logged in as host, I don't see the Gallery in the dropdown

  • Re: Cannot create Parent or Child in 3.0.12

Smehaffie, thanx very much for your prompt reply! I did do a fresh clean install of 3.1.0 (new database also). However, neither parent or child portals install as I understand the documentation. I can see where the Portal \0, \1 , \2 etc, folders are being created and in fact I can see the sample pix and .css in the folders (using the Club template). But, the portal folder is NOT created in the actual web ( www.website.com/portal ) where I would expect. It's my own web server machine and I have double

  • Cannot create Parent or Child in 3.0.12

Default DNN Portal install works very well. But, when I try to create a Parent or Child (eg, www.domain.com/portal ) I get this error. "An Error Was Encountered During The Creation Of Your Portal. This May Have Been Caused By Specifying An Incorrect Password For An Existing User Account. Please Verify Your Details Before You Try Again." I have tried creating unique new users (with valid pwds) in addition to trying admin and host logins. I left the "Home Directory" field untouched with the grayed
