Thank you. As it turns out I found something in the meantime does does very similar, kinda stumbled upon it and got it working, appreciate the help!

How to automatically save to excel
The code I have below brings up a save dialogue. I would rather have it save to a drive:\myfilename1 automatically if possible. Possible? Dim attachment As String = "attachment; filename=Employee.xls" Response.ClearContent() Response.AddHeader("content-disposition", attachment) Response.ContentType = "application/vnd.ms-excel" Dim tab As String = "" For Each dc As DataColumn In dt.Columns Response.Write(tab + dc.ColumnName) tab = vbTab Next Response.Write(vbLf

I understand the concern. But..this happens to be an inhouse intranet app for only a single user so I feel safe about it. That is, if I knew how to do it.

Yes, that's more along the lines of what I am looking for. Your code writes/creates a text file, but if u look at what I have, it creates an excel file. Could I have your code do that?

After successfully implementing a shopping cart where the line items all show up correctly in a gridview with desired quantity, final price etc, what does one do from here? what options exist?
