Re: ServerDivision.com Hosting
I'm not sure I know of any specific problems with Helm and MDeamon but you might want to check over in our forums (if you haven't done so already) and it's likely to have been discussed there: http://forums.webhostautomation.com

Re: Is there any hosting provider offering MSDE?
Microsoft do have a way of confusing things don't they ;-) On they're site they call it "Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Desktop Engine" and not "Data Engine". We distribute MSDE (what ever it's called!) with our product which we're entitled to do because of the microsft licences we hold. What I thought wasn't possible was for our customers (all hosting companies) to offer paid fir databases to their customers using MSDE. If they ARE infact able to do this legally then I have about 1000 people that will

Re: Host my own internet site
Do you have a static IP address. You'll need this so you can have a location for people to visit to see your site but you don't necessarily need a registered domain name. Unless you have a well visited site it's unlikely to use much traffic at all. However, your ISP might not allow you to host servers using your connection so that might be worth checking..

Re: Is there any hosting provider offering MSDE?
Actually the "DE" of MSDE stands for Desktop Edition. MSDE can be distributed by developers with their applications but can't be used for hsoting commercial databases for customers. For that you need the full blown (and expensive!) MS SQL.

Re: IIS security
Most of the security problems we tend to see on windows web servers tend to be related to folder permissions that are set incorrectly. Things like having EVERYONE access on roots of drives etc.

Re: Hosted sites with HELM
Hi Guys, I've just registered on this forum and I'll be poping in regularly to see what's happening relating to Helm discussions. So any questions or problem just let me know. You might also be interested to know that we've been working recently on getting real DNN support built into the current version of Helm. I'm expecting this to be available quite soon.
