  • Re: Why does 100% Css Design Fail in Dnn? (No Tables)

Very good news! I can't wait to see everything that will come from this. I can't believe I will finally be able to use the skin I spent a month making. I am going to post the skin as soon as I get some time to modify it for public use. It's a 3 column, source ordered, min-max (no javascript and works on ie), header/footer, fully marked up for accessibility, works in all tested browsers on mac and pc, VERY flexible and it shows correctly in Dreamweaver. It has been my project for 3 months now and

There would be a small performance hit, but the performance increase by doing tableless xhtml+css far outweighs the downside of the script.

Could you still post a link to download your HTTPModule? There are some sites I don't want to mess with the core and this would be a great alternative for me. I would also love to see the core files posted as a download at css.dnncreative.com so that we all don't have to recompile the code. Any progress on getting some modules available to download that have been converted as well?

Very nice! Could you post the files you modified for download at http://css.dnncreative.com? That way we don't all have to reinvent the wheel as we make each CSS site.

It truly is frustrating working with DNN when trying to do tableless design. I have been working at it since the first of the year and have made some headway, but still not in a reliable way. I never did get it to validate. FCK editor does a very nice job of creating valid XHTML. Since I don't plan on having multiple sites on the same installation I hack the entire site to get it to do what I want. Here is a list of things I do... Use nokiko's XHTML default.ascx file. It took me a LONG time to figure out how to call an external JS file from DNN, but I figured it out eventually. I do mine in the default.ascx file, but you could probably figure out how to do it elsewhere. This is the how it must be formatted... <script language='javascript1.2' defer type="text/javascript" src="/Portals/0/Skins/javascriptfile.js"></script> As far as the validation goes, I'm not the one to ask. I don't even know enough about javascript to be dangerous with it. Hope this

Congrats Lee! That's very exciting. I didn't exactly follow where you are putting the <%=SkinPath %> though. Is it right in the skin itself? This is one area I'm rough on. I've always modified my default.ascx file before for print and handhelds and then create skins in HTML and convert to ascx for the skins. ascx is something I'm learning slowly as time permits. Could you post an example area where it's being inserted? Question: What happens when someone has javascript turned off with this

  • Re: Tableless DNN Skins

That sounds great! If we can all work together and not keep trying to reinvent the wheel then we could really break some new ground with tableless DNN. We also need to keep our ideas open to each other instead of worrying about "competition" taking our ideas. I know I have seen many designers fail in this industry with that attitude. We need to make everything available that we have and know if we are going to be successful with this. Here is a list of my thoughts on what we should have... Converted

  • Tableless DNN Skins

Nokiko: Is your transitional default.aspx for negative margins the same as you have listed before? I use that in my tableless designs for DNN, but for some reason the one I'm working with now is giving me all kinds of issues. It could be the way I did the min-max for all browsers. I found a way last night that is painless and works without negative margins to make it work, so I will try implimenting that and see if it fixes it. If it is different, could you please post the aspx for it? Would anyone

  • Rainbow babies DNN site

Hello, I've been reading the tableless DNN forum and saw your post for the rainbowbabies.com site and I have to say that I have never been so impressed with a DNN site before. I was curious what all the steps were that you took to implementing it. I currently modify my default.ascx file for my tableless css code. Do you do the same? If you would like to trade templates, I have a static 3 column with header/footer, source ordered, works in all browsers with only a small glitch in Opera 6 and it has
