  • Question about Great Plains -> Reporting Services

Hi, A friend contacted me yesterday about a client of theirs with Great Plains. They are having a problem accessing Reporting Services (RS) based reports from Sharepoint while outside the corporate network. Their main Great Plains/Sharepoint installation is on server A; Server B is their database/reporting services server; as far as I know, Reporting Services was put on the database server during the original GP install in order to avoid additional licensing fees. The users can access their GP RS

  • Re: DNN 3.0.13 after install error An unhandled error has occurred

You're not going to believe this one... !?!?!?! As you know, DNN has an 'admin' directory on its root directory. My host's (Interland) control panel is set to be accessible via a virtual alias named "admin" off the web root. I believe there's a direct conflict between the two. So, every time DNN tries to hit the DNN admin directory ( http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/admin/ ), it gets redirected over to the control panel. Last night, I sent Interland a support email requesting they resolve this somehow and

*bump* I'm having this same issue with a clean install of 3.0.13 over at Interland... Chris

  • Re: IP Address in Browser address bar instead of domain?????

*BUMP* I am having the same problem. I have a 3.0.13 installation on my local machine (XP Pro) that I have copied up to the server, including the database. I changed the connection string(s) and changed the HTTPAlias in the PortalAlias table to reflect just the IP address. My browser (IE) just sits there when I try to browse to the site. It never does anything... Finally, it now is coming back with: "An unhandled error has occurred." Does DNN still support the use of a bare IP address instead of

  • Re: Unable to print in 3.0.10 (beta)

OK, I have switched off friendly URLs - and I can print. Good. At least we can determine the cause. Next issue is that my BIGGEST reason for moving to DNN 3.0+ was for friendly URLs - none of my sites are getting the Google ranking they deserve because of the old URL format. Does anyone know if this is an issue that's even on the Core Team's radar screen????? As the bug site isn't accepting new bugs right now, who should I report this to? Thanks for the help. Chris

  • Unable to print in 3.0.10 (beta)

Hi, I did a fresh install of 3.0.10 tonight and tried to print several modules using the printer icon/link iin the bottom right corner of each module. When I tried, I would get some variation of the following error: /********************************************* Server Error in '/DNN3' Application. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ? Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack

  • Re: Google results, I dropped

Richard & Jeremy, I'm confused. I have heard (anecdotally) that DNN pages don't get indexed past the first set of tabs - the toplevel set of tabs. Jeremy seems to confirm this in his post. Is that true? Is that a function of the solpart menu control or .aspx sites in general? The reason I'm asking is that I recently added a sitemenu (dynamically generated) to a couple of my sites, and inserted a link to it in the DesktopPortalFooter code. I haven't seen any difference yet, but I assumed that

  • Re: Google results, I dropped

Hi Chris, Sorry in advance for the long post - this has been pent up for some time. I have recently been coming up against this issue more and more. The answers you've been getting have been very good ones to date. However, they don't go far enough. For what it's worth, here are some of the conclusions I am coming to. 1) A sitemap referenced in the footer (NOT on the solpart menu) is key to allowing Google, Lynx, etc. to browse your site. The sitemap will give the Google bot solid links (<a href

  • Re: DotNetNuke and SSL

Aaron, That's correct. It would mean the site as a whole would be a bit slower as a result of SSL, but the site would be much more secure. I've seen a couple of posts to the effect that they have implemented SSL with DNN; I just wasn't clear as to whether they have secured the entire site or some subdirectory. My client focuses on network engineering and network security. I have set up the DNN for his website. Given that DNN doesn't lock out passwords after X number of invalid attempts, he was concerned

  • Re: DotNetNuke and SSL

Hi Dave, Phil, Just wondered - did you apply the SSL certificate against the entire DNN site or just one or more custom pages you created? One of my clients is a network engineering company that wants to put clients network specs in a section of their site, grant access using the DNN role based authorization, and then secure that with SSL. I'm not sure how to do that without securing the entire DNN site. Thanks for any advice! Chris
