  • Re: News feed, XML / XSLT module question

Thanks for the info. I'm not trying to sound sarcastic or anything but I get that part. It's the code in the stylesheet I don't get. I'm not well versed in coding those. I'm still trying to grasp parsing the feed. I was hoping one of the gurus would do my work for me. >sheepish grin< Thanks again, Kirk

  • Re: DotNetNuke and the web server in Visual Web Developer Express

Well, I edited my original post so it's gone, but that wasn't long ago so I remember. Copy all the DNN files to a folder, edit the web.config file as necessary, add the directory as a virtual directory in IIS and give it the proper permissions (for networkservice, etc.) then try to browse to it. Once you get it working in IIS, then add the project to VWD. If the vitual directory name doesn't match the original DNN project name (dotnetnuke) then you may get errors.

  • News feed, XML / XSLT module question

Is this possible: To render a feed with only the title shown, and the description appears as a 'mouseover' type tool-tip? The feed is here: http://www.acidplanet.com/podcasts/rss.asp That URL is a full page- if you click it, there is info for what that page is and such but if you add it to the News Feed or XML/XSLT modules, it displays a list of their podcasts, etc. However there are 30+ entries and the discriptions take up a lot of space. I don't want to limit it to just 5 entries. I want them all

Sounds like a port redirection problem since you said that the alias is http://localhost:1038... and IIS will try to serve on port 80 unless it's configured differently.

Shot in the dark: Did you add the ASPNET machine account to the valid logins for SQL2005 and does it have dbo permissions?

  • Re: Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition

If you have a license for MSSQL 2000, I'd wonder why you're not taking advantage of it. Since the 2GB limitation on database size has been raised to 4GB, then I'd wonder why you wouldn't consider fragmenting the portals to use separate instances of SQL2005. This might be a deciding factor: (from: http://www.aspfaq.com/show.asp?id=2343 ) There is no more workload governor, though if you are running Express on Windows XP Home or Windows 2000/XP Professional, and using named pipes to connect, you are

  • Re: Help with login

In the default portal installation, which has the DNN_Blue theme, near the top right will be text that says something along the lines of superuser or administrator, depending upon which account you've logged in with. That text is a link that will take you to the profile settings of the account. If you click it, it'll take you to the page where you can edit your settings. Is that what you're looking for?

  • Re: Upload Excel spreadsheet to portal

xls files are included by default in the allowable upload file extensions. large files may be restricted by the host's web.config file. are you looking to make the sheet viewable in a webpage?
