  • How to make visitors log back in ?

I've created a website with a section that requires visitors to login to access certain company data. At the moment the login works fine and if the user ends the session (pretty new to asp.net so session may mean something else to you !) by clicking the 'Log Out' button, they are forced to login again if they want to access these pages again. The problem is that if a user browses away from the site whilst they have an active session, they can come back to the secure pages without having to login

  • Re: Help with Apache and aspdotnet module please

I've managed to figure out the conf file amendments and can now see .aspx pages on the apache server. One final question can Apache and the aspdotnet module be used for access database connections ?

  • Help with Apache and aspdotnet module please

I've messed around for what seems like and age trying to get this working. The apache server installs fine as does the aspdotnet module, I can access the server to display simple html pages but I can't for the life of me figure out what I need to edit / add in the conf file to get the module working so I can display .aspx pages. Can some one please take me through this process? I've read the documentation on the apache website but to be honest it not really making process clear. Thanks in advance

  • Re: Getting Started with ASP.NET

Thanks for all your advice. I've just bought ASP.NET Unleashed and it seems to be an excellent book, I think I'll stick with Dreamweaver and work through the tutorials and the book. I am just a little confused about Visual basic, is there any real need to learn this language or is it ok to just learn the ASP.NET elements that I'd be using in web development ?

  • Getting Started with ASP.NET

I currently use Dreamweaver MX 2004 to create ASP.NET web pages but I'd like a better understanding of whats actually happening in the generated scripts, I have a rough idea but if I'm honest its not founded on any deep understanding of ASP.NET. Is it best to learn the fundementals of Visual Basic from scratch and then ASP.NET and if so what editor / debugger would you recommend ? I've heard abit about Visual Studio but to be honest I'm not really sure if thats a good choice or not. Thanks in advance

  • Re: 403 Error

Thanks for the suggestions, I've tried it with a shared folder with access to everyone and also downloaded the Nwind.mdb sample database just incase my test database was corrupt in some way, but still no luck. Think i'll just setup a hosting account somewhere and do it that way to get around the problem I seem to have locally.

  • Re: 403 Error

If I create a sample page, with say some text, images and a form it all displays fine when I test it frome dreamweaver. However if I try to create a database connection I get the 403 error. It seems to be something with either the folder the database is stored in or some permission problem with the database.

  • 403 Error

Hello, I'm totally new to asp.NET so I apologise if I'm a little clueless. I'm trying to connect to an Access database from Dreamweaver 2004 MX, everything seems to be fine until I complete the connection string, I then recieve a 403 - Forbidden error. I've tried everything I can think of, Cassini seems to be running fine, Dreamweaver "sees" the server running but no matter what I put into the string (and even if I leave it totaly blank) I get the same error. This is the string: Provider
