    The most popular and best-reviewed ASP.NET book for "ground up" learning on according to Amazon rank and reviews is Wrox's Beginning ASP.NET 3.5 in C# and VB by Imar Spaanjaars. Imar was recently awarded Microsoft MVP status and he's very active answering reader ASP.NET questions in his book forum at Wrox .

    Icarus1_uk: You could take a look at the Wrox CMS chapter in ASP.NET 2.0 Instant Results . The code is written in VB and available from the same wrox.com page. And from that page, you can buy just that 1 chapter for $4.99 (US) if that's all you want. The sample application is solid although maybe not something you'd put into production as-is, but it would be a very good learning tool and basis for your own work. Marco Bellinaso uses his "TheBeerHouse" example to show how to build an n-tier website including CMS features (articl management, newsletters, etc) and it's done in C#. He discusses different options you might consider for various design aspects, then shows the specific solution he thinks is best for the business
