Re: Unable to start debugging on the web server EXCEPT on 2nd attempt
Thank you for your note. Could somebody else weigh in on this specific situation I have described in detail above? This is not a normal situation; DEBUG of a second project should not fail and then work on a 2nd attempt. This gets old fast. Is this a known problem? Unfortunately, I cannot use VS2008 for these projects.

Unable to start debugging on the web server EXCEPT on 2nd attempt
Why does it take 2 tries to launch my .ASPX page with the debugger? First try fails with err msg (below). Immediate 2nd try works fine. I have multiple C# projects in a solution. I typically start my ASMX webservice by rightmousing on the project and clicking Debug -> Start New Instance. Then I try to start my web client project the same way (rightmouse->Debug->Start New Instance). This used to work sometime back but now I consistently get this error: Unable to start debugging on the web

Re: Directory Listing Denied issue: Set as Start Page still requires use of INETMGR MMC
Wow! I am amazed that THIS turns out to be the "solution" to this issue. I thought surely there would be some "little knob" somewhere in the vast dialogs of Visual Studio 2008 (let alone all the prior versions) that would have "fixed" this. You are correct...resorting to adsuti.vbs is definitely not glamorous...I guess I will live with the problem as is (i.e. its only a minor hassle). And yet, I certainly hope this little issue makes it on Microsoft's list of things

Directory Listing Denied issue: Set as Start Page still requires use of INETMGR MMC
I am using VStudio2008. I create a new web site and want Default.aspx to be my default start page and so I set it as that via the Solution Explorer. When I select the website (project) in Solution Explorer and right-mouse and click View in Browser, the URL is simply http://localhost/mySite/ and an error message: Directory Listing Denied This Virtual Directory does not allow contents to be listed. I find I have to bring up the INETMGR MMC application and go to the documents tab of my virtual directory

Re: WCF Service Application Vs WCF Service Library
I am another newbie on this issue. I just posted this yesterday: http://forums.asp.net/t/1377101.aspx Indirectly, I suppose my post helps to highlight a few differences but I find it quite confusing (especially why the WCF Service Application termplate exists). Nobody has yet answered my post there. Over in the MSDN forum, I have another thread trying to get a handle on how to go with this issue: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/wcf/thread/bdbbf515-7ea9-452a-b227-deda3aadcb89 The latest

Seeking guidelines on differences in WCF project types in Vstudio 2008
I am new to WCF and I am looking for guidelines on which "project type" to use in getting started via Visual Studio 2008 and C#. A specific need is having my WCF service call an ASMX service . Choice 1. Create Project; Visual C#; WCF; select WCF Service Library . Described as "A project for creating a WCF service class library (.dll)". Gives an app.config does not expose the "Add Web Reference" choice which I need. Debug brings up a WCF Service Host and a WCF Test Client

Re: Configuration error in ASP.NET 1.1 site after install of .Net Framework 3.5 SP1
I don't know why the original problem occurred. I tried the modification of default.aspx again in my 1.1. site using Notepad this time and after saving the small change, I noticed that this time web.config was not modified. I tried to browse to the site and it worked (my small change was visible too). Confused now about the original problem, I next tried another modification of default.aspx, this time using Visual Studio 2005 (simply as an editor of this single file). After saving the change

Re: Configuration error in ASP.NET 1.1 site after install of .Net Framework 3.5 SP1
Could someone please take a shot at helping me shed some light on this problem? Here is a brief recap of the situation: I needed to make a very small, cosmetic change to a single page of a production 1.1 site and when I SAVED the modified Default.aspx file the whole site failed. I noticed a block of assemblies had been automatically added to the web.config file. I removed my small cosmetic change to Default.aspx and browsed the site again. Same problem. I restored web.config to its prior status

Configuration error in ASP.NET 1.1 site after install of .Net Framework 3.5 SP1
I just broke a production web site, never anticipating the chaos I apparently caused to this ASP.NET 1.1 website. Yesterday, I installed .NET framework 3.5 SP1 (because I needed it for a different application). Today, I made a totally trivial addition of a new <tr> element to the default.aspx of this web site. After saving it, I browsed to the site and got this error: Configuration ErrorBODY { FONT-WEIGHT: normal; FONT-SIZE: 0.7em; COLOR: black; FONT-FAMILY: "Verdana" } P { MARGIN
