Custom use of Solpartmenu
I'm re-using solpartmenu for the menu with a custom multi-page DNN module. I was just wondering why the following code doesn't work. I'm just loading the menu configuration directly from an XML string that was created using the solpart menu-building module. But when I enter the for loop it fails because the MenuItems collection is empty. Do you have to add menu items individually in order to get a parsed menuitems collection? The menu still renders and processes user actions correctly. Here's the

Re: Custom Skin Job
Thanks, What I need to do is load a whole series of small html snippets, each of which comprises a short blurb and a link around an image. Those snippets need to be shuffled (randomize the order) once loaded, and then cycled through like a repeating slide show. Each should be displayed for 3 seconds. No need for fading effects or such. I'd probably prefer a dhtml solution over flash, but it doesn't matter that much. It doesn't need a content editing interface. Just real simple. I'd probably prefer

Custom Skin Job
We have a design and a nearly completed skin with a homepage and an interiors page for a DNN 2.1.2 site. We'd like this to be completed. The home page has a static menu (we can adjust the URLs), but it also requires some custom javascript or embedded flash in 3 areas. It has 2 containers, but we need some minor padding adjustment on the containers and a variation on one of them. Most of the requirements are spelled out at the example page at: http://portals.bigthought.org/Default.aspx?tabid=206 The

Re: Trends in source code availability for commercial modules
Unless you want to contribute your source to the public domain, then yes, you should place your copyright notice on every page of code. Folks need to know that you're maintaining your IP ownership. As for the rest, it sounds like your practices already provide what is needed. Access to the code is the main thing - minimally for risk management, but possibly for customization. The only thing I would add (as a longshot) might be any design documentation you might have. Such would help orient folks

I wasn't attacking XMod's developer - kudos to Kelly Ford (& co.?) for the need they've filled with excellent product, support and service. I'm sure they have good reasons behind the choice not to offer source. I've just been burned by previous topsellers that just dropped off of the face of the planet (like MagicGadget). I need source as a backup before I'll deploy a 3rd party module and tell my users that they

Re: Trends in source code availability for commercial modules
I'm sorry, I don't have much control over the survey site, it's a service that my organization subscribes to. We haven't had problems with it before, but it is acting a little strange today. So for the record, here are the survey results: 1. For modules I purchase, availability of the source code is: Response Percent Response Total Not important 0% 0 Nice to have 10.3% 3 Highly desired 34.5% 10 A purchasing prerequisite 55.2 % 16 Total Respondents 29 (skipped this question) 1 2. When I purchase modules

Re: Trends in source code availability for commercial modules
The survey site was acting strange this morning, try the links again, but then Refresh the page and it should come up. I'm in 95% agreement with you. The more experience you get with DNN operationally, the more you come to realize that purchasing without source is folly. All of the modules I've purchased this way have bourne bad fruit. >>The needs of the marketplace *will* and always do prevail. I believe sooner or later The problem is that it's often later. The marketplace is often less efficient

Thanks, but I don't see that file, only the normal Log.xml.resources file.

Re: 2.1.2 Log Viewer Choking Help!!!
Yes, 2.1.2. Not everyone has made the switch yet - this is a production system and we're held back from the 3.x migration due to the single-userbase / multiportal issue. I did restart Internet Services on that machine last night and it fixed the problem right up. There was no explanation in the event logs or the DNN admin log.
