Re: MPS 4.5 InitializeADforHosting failing with "UpdateACL/The parameter is incorrect"
This is caused by Windows 2003 SP2. You'll need to remove that to continue. SP2 introduces a change in the MSXML components that MPS relies on to parse and transform XML. The changes unfortunately break MPS. We're in the process of evaluating this for a fix but for now the MPS server will need to stay at SP1.

Re: Offline Address List are not synchronized HMC 3.5 FP1
The event log indicates that the thread that is trying to execute inside the System Attendant which is responsible for creating public folders for your OAL's is "blocked." This is usually due to misconfigured backup software taking the public folder store offline or otherwise making it unreachable via MAPI. The System Attendant does a lot of work to OAB's during Exchange's normal maintenance period, which is usually between 1 AM and 5 AM every night. If you've got backups

Re: RPCHTTPCONFIG error
Actually, it isn't correct. Your first CN= value is "Administrator", not administrator@cg.local The hosting solution always creates users so that their CN is the same as their primary SMTP address. Since this one isn't, I'm guessing either the account was not provisioned through MPS, or you modified the account after provisioning it. The RPCHTTPCONFIG app assumes it can use the primary SMTP address for the search, so it won't work for this user unless you change it to match

Re: Mailbox Backup
I don't have anything definite for you, but if I recall correctly Veritas uses MAPI to backup individual mailboxes, so if those mailboxes do not have MAPI access enabled, that might block Veritas.

Re: Managing non-critical and non-security updates
FYI: .Net Framework 2.0 is not supported on a number of your HMC servers (any that run our various components). In fact it breaks some things, so that one's a definite no-no ;-) As for other non-critical updates, it would be best to have a QA lab or something similar that mirrors your production environment so that you could test them before deploying in production.

Re: Schould HMC user password expire? (HMC 3.5 consolidated setup)
Unfortunately there's nothing out of the box to handle expired passwords. Since users don't actually have access to your domain, the only way they can change their passwords is via something like the sample control panel (some UI backed by MPS namespace calls). So it would be easier to not expire passwords. If you really wanted to expire passwords you could certainly write a slick application to check for users with near-expired passwords and e-mail them a reminder to go to your website and change

Re: MPF Engine Operational Error
Check that you have a COM+ application on your MPS server called "Provisioning Engine." Make sure that you can start it (right-click it and choose Start). If you're running the deployment tool on a server other than the MPS server, make sure that you can connect to it over your network.
