Re: upgrade from DNN 3.1 to 3.2 or any version in the future
? You might need to tell me exactly what to do here. So, how do I get the keys to regenerate on that webconfig file? This site acutally hacked into once and I changed the password, so it does raise a major concern and I want to make sure I get this resolved. What do I copy form another web.config file? or better yet, how do I get the keys to change?

Re: upgrade from DNN 3.1 to 3.2 or any version in the future
Thank you so much for the follow up. Ok I looked at all of my installations and realized that I must have copied the web.config file from the server and noticed the change in the keys except for one of my sites. So the question is, the one site in which I have the same keys as the original zip file, what do I do from here? My site is working fine, but do I set the permissions for the web.config file and it will regenerate the new keys, but will I be able to log in to my site after I do this...and

Re: Am I really this stupid? What the heck do I upgrade with this zip file?
This is the best thread yet... I have always been scared to death to upgrade and I just realized I was lucky a few times. I think I have it down to a tee...But please let me know if I am wrong. First I have MaximumAsp as my host and they always do backups everyday on our sql server...which is a plus. On an upgrade: A. My Local machine 1. I download the new zip and unzip it to a new folder. 2. Then I copy over all files to my DNN folder I current have on my computer But, I keep a. my portals folder

Re: upgrade from DNN 3.1 to 3.2 or any version in the future
I thought that every web.config file has the same machinevalidationkey and machineencryptionkey. Everytime I download the new update, it already has a machinevalidationkey and machineencryptionkey. Am I suppose to log into the server and download the webconfig file again, does it change? I always have a local copy of mty webconfig file and the keys are the same. I have made 6 0r 7 updates in the past and never had to copy over a machinevalidationkey and machineencryptionkey. In the DNN update instructions

upgrade from DNN 3.1 to 3.2 or any version in the future
I have always had an easy time upgrading versions, but this one was a disaster. Luckily it was a test site and our live site. I'm actually afraid to upgrade our site. I first got an http://localhost/Default.aspx?error=Object+reference+not+set+to+an+instance+of+an+object.&content=0 int the address bar and I get " An error has occurred" (written twice actually) in the browser. Then I read the posts for ever and found out I should just take the release.config and add passwords again , then upload

Re: Beta Testers required - Smart-Thinker HomePage
This sounds great, but I had a different project in mind. I just wanted to have a client sign up and I would have the ability to assign a page to that client or clients without creating roles. The one thing I refuse to incorporate in DNN is a module that makes modifications to the core. So if that is the direction you are heading in, I will probably wait until DNN comes up with a solution or someone figutres out how to do it without core changes.I really do not want any user to have control over

Re: Freindly URL spacing
http://forums.searchenginewatch.com/showthread.php?t=2526 This is a great site. But I have to disagree on lower google ranking when using keywords in the url. In my site I tend to see a higher ranking on some keywords in the url. You really just have to play around with evertything until you see the results you want. Yahoo does place an emphasis on keywords in the url.

Re: Freindly URL spacing
I have really increased my ranking in google when I switched over to DNN. But I noticed that google really puts an emphasis on keywords in the http url too. So my whole objective is to have a space and no underscore or 20%. But it sounds like that is going to be impossible.
