  This is a mess. The final release is put up with no notice about the fact that this requires some other update which has not been released. Would have been much better off just holding the release until the patch was available IMHO. I'm rolling back to RC. Thanks for the warning! ...Scott

  You can also just copy the Microsoft Ajax DLL directly into the bin directory of your application and it will work fine. The benefit of the GAC is you can put the DLL in there and it can be used by multiple web sites. But I run my sites just fine by copying it to the BIN dir of my application on the servers. Scott

• Default value for a databound combobox in a DetailsView

  I have a DetailsView that contains a couple of text boxes and two dropdownlist controls. The dropdownlist controls are fill with a datasource and databound. This works great for editing records, the dropdownlist controls are automatically selected to the values of the current data record. When a user does an Insert I want to be able to set each of these controls to a default item (not the first item in the list). Is there any simple way of doing this? Thanks! ..Scott
