  • Re: Official DotNetNuke Forum - Officially awful?

Yes, thanks to SourceForge. A Core Team member pointed out the fact that you can pull almost all DNN releases (Core & Module) from the link http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/dnn/?sort_by=date&sort=desc ... THANKS! That's one unified place to check! Now if only the mothership can acheive the same thing....I know it will happen sooner or later.

Yes, Michael, the all-incompassing "Aggregated" is a step in the right direction. The right direction for whom--that's the real question! Skinning aside, let's look at the types of users....I see those as different groups with different needs: Specific Project Users/Coders Needs already met by individual forums DNN Core Team Coding needs already met by focused forums for their areas of coding Moderation & mentoring needs already met by "Aggregated" foru End Users Need aggregated forum--but only

  • Re: Restrict number of logins

Yes it is a flaw, and some people are driving trucks through it....it's that large.

  • Re: Restrict number of logins

Seems there is little interest in this feature. I even replied o my own thread (to bump it back into the top), and no one showed any interest... :-(

  • Re: DotNetNuHke.com

I'm getting a lot of timeout messages--within the DNN error-handlng methods. Basically the page loads, but the module content is incomplete. I suspect someone's rolling out upgrades that cannot be handled under the current load... Particularly noticable around the forums, blogs, and downloads pages.

  • Re: Gold Benefactor - need your honest opinion

In a community with such a strong "free" mentality, I wouldn't expect it to pay off that way. There are simply more hobbyists and fewer corporate purchasers in the mix. Your corporate purchasers are probably getting their DNN from local(?) consultants who evaluate, install, support, custom code, & offer other services. (Almost none of our clients EVER think about going direct...) Page-hits in this community can be VERY misleading....my company supports DOZENS of others where we've put in DNN

  • Re: Which forum do you like better?

Both... ASP.Net: faster, brighter/more cheerful skin, fewer sub-forums = less to check/more others possibly view posts, better thread history DNN: more active (sometimes), less wasted space in forum skin (although more wasted in overall page skin) = less scrolling/paging

  • Re: To do or not to do ? What to do ?

Yes, there is time expended (possibly wasted) on every file save. But I think the theory is that computers are now waiting on people more than we wait on them--at least when thinking and typing. More of us cannot type 100+ words a minute, and when coding how much time do you spend thinking things through.....most PCs can slide a small compilation in between without being noticed... There simply doesn't have to be an App_Code directory--you really mean to tell me the all-intelligent compiler couldn

I've started thread on the mothership, and illustrated a couple of business cases... http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/ForumsDotNetNuke/tabid/795/mid/2108/threadid/47383/scope/posts/Default.aspx

  • Re: Source Code of Modules for DNN 3.3

Short answer: you don't get the source. Long answer: They appearantly rushed an "RC" out the door just to have a press release to distribute at the Boston Microsoft event. Check the forums on the mothership for more opinions, [inaccurate] direction to the Projects' Downloads pages, and [lack of] details surrounding this wave of releases...
