Re: Proper way to deploy ajax to Production server
Just run the installer. The System.Web.Extensions dll is separate from the rest of the framework so it won't change .NET 2.0 behavior. -Rich

Re: Can not install new Ajax RC
If you're still having problems uninstalling the RC, you can uninstall using the GUID for the installed version. This can help when it's partially uninstalled: msiexec -x {082BDF7B-4810-4599-BF0D-E3AC44EC8524} -l*v Uninstall.log Then if you're still having problems, you look at the uninstall log for the cause. -Rich

Re: Where is System.Web.Extensions.dll now? Fails on remote hosted server.
No, you can't override the hoster's configured trust level. -Rich

Re: Where the heck is Atlas??
Steve Marx wrote the following post at 01-24-2007 9:46 PM: If you ever do make cojax, please let me know. I'd use it! (you'd have to shave your head first) Here's what's going on with the videos: if you downloaded Scott's Todo List video prior to RTM and then watched it and tried to create an app of your own with Beta 2, RC or RTM releases, then your app won't work because the tag prefix for the controls changed from atlas: to asp: a few releases ago. We did this when ASP.NET AJAX officially became

Re: Where is System.Web.Extensions.dll now? Fails on remote hosted server.
Yes, what's happening is that the hoster is enforcing medium trust for all applications and reflection isn't permitted at that trust level. Medium trust is necessary for shared hosting because it isolates applications from one another and from system resources (like SMTP or the registry). You certainly don't want another user's app on the server accessing your data or calling methods on classes in your app so medium trust prevents this from happening. Since System.Web.Extensions does reflection and

Re: RC -> RTM Migration Guide nit
Thanks, you're correct that the IIS 7 configuration section shold read <system.webServer><handlers>. We'll update the document. Here's what the IIS 7 configuration section should look like: < system.webServer > < validation validateIntegratedModeConfiguration= "false" /> < modules > < add name= "ScriptModule" preCondition= "integratedMode" type= "System.Web.Handlers.ScriptModule, System.Web.Extensions, Version=1.0.61025.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35

ASP.NET AJAX 1.0 Released!
We've released RTM today and you can read all of the details at http://ajax.asp.net . If you're migrating existing ASP.NET 2.0 applications to ASP.NET AJAX or are migrating an appliication created with the July CTP, or one of the ASP.NET AJAX Beta/RC releases, make sure you check the whitepaper and migration guides at http://ajax.asp.net/documentation/default.aspx?tabid=47 . The most important sections deal with changes you'll need to make to web.config to configure the application properly

Re: Is ASP.NET AJAX Beta 2 Medium Trust compatible?
Make sure you let them know that the ASP.NET AJAX installer (ASPAJAXExtSetup.msi) installs the dll in the GAC by default - i.e., there's no post-configuration they need to do after installing. -Rich

Re: Is ASP.NET AJAX Beta 2 Medium Trust compatible?
ASP.NET AJAX applications will run in medium trust. In a hosted environment, the hoster must install ASP.NET AJAX extensions on the server. While it may take some time for all hosters to provide this for customers, there are some who are already offering ASP.NET AJAX hosting and there are actually benefits for hosters in installing the bits on the server vs. their customers deploying the dll in \bin themselves. For one, multiple applications on the server can run from a single instance of the dll
