Re: Connection pool problem
I will double-check that all the connections are closed. I am careful in my code to close and dispose connections, but I inherited this app's code. Maybe I just missed something. Thanks for the replies, folks. Tim

Connection pool problem
I am running into a problem with connection pooling for an ASP.NET app (.NET 2) running on IIS7 (Windows Server 2008) and connecting to a SQL Server 2000 database. In our staging environment, the application works fine without any problems, but the application crashes in the customer's production environment. When I observe performance monitors for the data provider in both environments, I can see that in our environment connections are constantly being reclaimed and the connection pool never

Serious DNN install error
I have installed various versions of DNN dozens of times, and I had never seen this behavior until now.... Installing either DNN 4.0.4 or DNN 3.2.2 on a Windows 2003 server, I get a "Root element is missing." error. This is because the web.config file has been wiped out! The file is there, but all of its content is gone. I replace the file with a fresh copy of release.config straight from the install download, modify the connection string, browse to the site -- and it does it again. I found some

Re: DNN with Active Directory - real world scenario?
You can enable Windows authentication and still allow public registration on the site. That would allow you to have both company users and customer users on the site. However, the bigger problem is certainly the fact that the server is remote. I believe you could make this work if both the company and the host were using ISA Server. You ought to be able to have the web server linked to the corporate network that way, but it would have to be a dedicated server and would require some ISA configuration

Re: Why does 100% Css Design Fail in Dnn? (No Tables)
As a gesture to the community and in support of Lee's free CSS skin (which uses HouseMenu), I have released a free PA for the skin object on my site. Download freely; no need to register. Head over to SnowCovered.com for the HouseMenu Professional package only if you need the source code or just want to support my efforts. The free PA version should be all you need to enjoy the DNNCreative skin when it's released. Cheers! Tim

Re: Tableless DNN Skins
Great discussion here, folks. I like the idea of having a place to share DNN CSS info, too. Lee, I am willing to help out, too, but it's cool if you have it covered. I am planning a CodeProject-like site for sharing DNN code, tips, etc., and CSS should certainly have a place there. It would not be ready in a couple of days, however! The skin looks good, Lee, and I would welcome any comments about HouseMenu and your experience using it. Always looking to make improvements. Tim

Re: glossary module
Adam, Since these are beta releases, there is no built-in way to migrate the data. That's one of the main features I added to this latest release! That said, you should be able to export the data directly from SQL and import it back in once you have made the upgrade. The table structure has not changed. Let me know how it goes. Tim

Re: Looking for a specific skin
I was once toying with the idea of a skin that used bare bodies with tattoos. I'm not talking about full frontal nudity and pornagraphic-style images; more fine-arts style images. For example, a body partially in shadow with an arm raised stretching across the top of the site, and the menu would look like it was tattooed on the arm. That kind of thing, if you can imagine it. The figures would be created with Poser, a 3D figure illustration application. Does that sound like something you could use
