  It would help if you showed us the connection string part of the web.config. Also make sure you changed the right connection string part (there's two).

  I think you should NOT EVER install a new version without having tested it properly on a local test installation before upgrading your production site (unless you really know what you're doing of course). But that's just my opinion ....

  donker: I can't really see why so many subforums had to be created on dnn. As a result I don't know where to post or look for answers. So I skip it. Peter, I believe the next version of the forums on Dotnetnuke will have an agregated forum. In this forum all post in all the sub-forums will appear.

  We are merely guests here on the ASP.NET website and have no real influence on setting up any sub-forums (they have been very generous already by giving us the 4 sub-forums).

  If you have access to IIS you could simply change the default page to an 'under construction' page. Alternatively you can set the AutoUpgrade key in web.config to False, so that users accessing the site are not triggering the upgrade while you are uploading the new files .
