• Re: New Wiki for www.asp.net

Hi Rick, Well, the good news is that it's the same code base as the wiki we, Telligent, wrote for http://docs.communityserver.org . We're not planning on releasing this version to the public though. However, we are working on another Wiki that we'll make available in the coming months :)
Guess not all forums have cool stuff and/or features. :)
Just to clarify, those features (attachments) do exist but are turned off. They are turned off largely for security reasons.

I don't know that we've officially announced anything, but we're planning on doing this at 12AM EST (Saturday) / 5AM GMT (Sunday).

Josh, you are right and we do have some things in the works. Right now the database for forums.asp.net is running on a shared database with about 30+ other database. Including www, ajax, windowsclient.net, iis.net, and a few more. While Community Server can (and will) be tuned up we see a lot of lag in the database server for serving requests. Getting the forums database on to its own dedicated server should really help short-term. Longer term we have some plans for some software updates that should

Glad to hear it's faster! A lot of the improvement is likely due to the fact that forums.asp.net is running on it's own dedicated web servers now (as of ~24 hours ago) :) This weekend we're going to try, again, to move it to a dedicated DB server too. So hopefully a lot of the performance improvement is because the servers are dedicated now instead of shared with other www.asp.net applications.

  • Re: This morning and the www.asp.net site

forums.asp.net is now running on a dedicated web server cluster. We're going to move the db to a dedicated DB server in the next few days as well.

  • Re: This morning and the www.asp.net site

We made and attempt this weekend to move forums.asp.net to its own hardware, but had to scrap the update. We're going to try again next weekend.

  • Re: Is the New Design Permanent?

We haven't done any hardware updates yet. I believe this weekend forums.asp.net will move to it's own dedicated server cluster (today www.asp.net and forums.asp.net are on the same cluster and compete for resources). The performance improvements are because we upgraded the forums to Community Server 2007 - we've done a lot of work to make things faster. I'm glad people are seeing the results -- hopefully after this weekend (if the server move happens) things will be even FASTER!!

  • Re: New design....

We hear you and we are working on it. We had to do a revert on the www.asp.net application due to what we believe was a memory leak in a component we're using for search. This affected a lot of other things too.
