  • Re: HOWTO: Manual install of DotNetNuke on GoDaddy.com

To all that have been watching this thread: I am no longer using Godaddy.com for 2 reaseons: 1. Godaddy.com does NOT allow you to set permissions at the root. 2. Godaddy.com does NOT give you the ablitly to upload a database. (My intent was to work locally on my laptop, then upload and restore when finished) I am now using another host. Thanks to everyone for their contribution on this thread. t-a-g

I have resolved my issue finally. Here is what I did: Before going to STEP 4: Install, I went into "Custom Directory Permissions" unselect all checkboxes, and saved. Once the "Pending Update" was finished, I again went back into "Custom Directory Permissions"; I re-CHECK all checkboxes, and saved. Finished STEP 4: Install. THATS IT!!! I believe this caused all of the files I uploaded to my Custom Directory to inherit the all of the permissions I checked. Last but not least, I must give credit to

I did change the release.config to web.config and I updated the db settings in it, but I am still getting the error I posted earlier. I wonder if I am getting a permissions error. Here is my delima: 1. Let say I have the domain anthonysdomain.com 2. As per an email from godaddy, I am not able to set permissions at my top level (I need to allow ASP.NET account to be able to Read, Write, Modify). 3. So, I create a seperate folder (as per this thread) call 'portal' and set the permissions (via Custom

I am still having problems. I've gone through this whole post and I am still getting the following error: Server Error in '/' Application. Runtime Error Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine. Details: To enable the details of this specific error message

So, how would I set this up so that it is at the top level of my domain at godaddy.com. What I mean is instead of http://www.mydomain.com/portals , I want to use http://www.mydomain.com . Thanks a million. This information has been invaluable. t-a-g

  • Re: Moved login page and I can't login now?

I am assuming you are using MS SQL Server. If so, then you can do the same from Query Analyzer Run the following SQL: UPDATE [DotNetNuke].[dbo].[Portals] SET [LoginTabId]=Null

  • Login page gone

Some how I disable or removed the login. I know I did not delete the file, I just some how turned it off. I am working on my PC locally so I can get in to the MS SQL server. What table do I need to look at to see if I turn off visiblity or moved it to another page etc.... Or is there a way to reload the DB from a script? Anything you can think of to do so I can log in as admin and try some of the other settings Thanks tag
