Why don't you buy one of the several books that are available on DotNetNuke?

Re: Sv.: How do I hide my subsites(Portals)
I suppose I should explain (as an after thought) that when I refer to URL, I am talking about the portal alias.

Re: Sv.: How do I hide my subsites(Portals)
What do you mean by "not being shown on the internet"? If you are refering to not having public access, then don't give it a publicly accessible URL. For example, my public server has a network machine name of server2. Since there is NO way to access it publicly using just server2 in the URL (server2 can't be resolved using DNS) that is all I need to do. If I want it accessible via the internet, then I must use a URL that can be resolved via DNS.

Re: Alias just loads portalid 1
The only time I use different alias for the SAME portal is when it is the SAME portal. My internal portal is set up with http://machine_name . It can be also accessed using http://sub_doman_name being the only diference between the two is one is internal network name (machine_name) and the other is the FQDN (full qualified domain name). I see no point in using www.site1.com AND www.site2.com on the same portal. It will be confusing and HOW will you decide which data will be displayed on site 1 and

Re: Alias just loads portalid 1
Are they in the same directory or different directories? A bit more info on HOW you set up the alias would help.

Re: APPLICATION SHUT DOWN AND MORE
First, I couldn't resolve your host name "www kp81.com".....was it set up in DNS properly.......on the hosting company's DNS, not yours. Second, did you create a port alias in site setting for the host name.

Re: servername changes to localhost in url... please help!
Did you create an alias for the machine name? By default, DNN installs itself AS localhost. If you want the website to answer as http://machinename , then you have to add an additional alias under admin->site settings-> portal alias. It is a security feature and it won't answer to anything that is NOT in the portal alias section.
