Re: CompareValidator will not render ErrorMessage text
FYI information for other newbie control developers like me ... dagilleland: ... I thought that the DefaultValue decoration on the ErrorMessage property would mean that I didn't have to initialize it. My fault for not reading up on that attribute more... Specifically, the part of the MS notes on the Walkthrough: Developing and Using a Custom Server Control that distinguish the use of certain attributes, such as the DefaultValue, says: "Design-time attributes applied to a control and its members do

Re: CompareValidator will not render ErrorMessage text
Silly me! I thought that the DefaultValue decoration on the ErrorMessage property would mean that I didn't have to initialize it. My fault for not reading up on that attribute more... Oh, and line 69 was something I had removed from my code during experimentation (but left in by mistake in my post). I had thought of having a pop-up calendar, but have dismissed it since the control is really for entering birthdates (and few would want to navigate back 20-40 years in a calendar control). Light-weight

CompareValidator will not render ErrorMessage text
I've written a control that takes a TextBox and a CompareValidator to ensure that the text is the correct type (in this case, a Date type). However, when I view the source code of my page, I see that the span tag that is supposed to render from the CompareValidator is not showing the error message I've set. By comparison, the RequiredFieldValidator's rendered span tag is showing the error message. I've been staring at this quite a while now, and I just can't seem to see why the CompareValidator's

Re: The little Admin
Hi Essam, To give a user some limited Administration capabilities, simply create a Security Role (from the Admin menu) and add one or more users to that role. Then, when you add a module to a page, go to the Settings for the module and give that security role Edit permissions for that module. All users in that security role will be able to edit the contents of that module. For example, I typically create a role called 'Content Editors' and add certain people (say, some secretaries) to the role. Then

Re: Print with params
Just a note: The TemplatePrint skin object will allow more control over skinning the print view of the module, but it doesn't actually support the forwarding of parameters from the current view of the module when doing the link to open the print view.

Re: Printing Dynamic Module Content (dnn 3.0.13)
[bump] I, too, have this question (& I've seen it in the sub-forums as well), so I thought I would bring it to the top again. As a side note, it appears that when the PrintModule icon is clicked, it will not preserve any query string values that the module on the screen may have received from postbacks. That is why the module show up in the print window just as it would if the page were visited for the first time. It's really a question of user expectation in the design of the PrintModule, I

Re: Multiple views one module
[bump] I thought I would bump this to the top again, 'cause after four hours of searching & experimenting, I still haven't seen a decent posted reply to this kind of question. As a side-note, I'm aware of approaches that try to use a LoadControl in the Init of the main view, but I'm looking for a simpler way (if it exists), as I don't want to re-do my existing module's code-base...

Re: Your Favorite Development Utilities?
My turn to chime in. Items I use (not mentioned so far): Beyond Compare (ScooterSoftware) - Excellent for syncing pretty much everything (folders & files). I use it to sync with my FTP, to pull database backups from my hosting provider, and to keep my USB sticks backed up EditPlus - color Text editor - I esp use the find/replace & find in files & code snippets (cliptext) Serif PhotoPlus 10 (previously, I used version 6, which is free from www.FreeSerifSoftware.com ) - Great alternative

Re: Bug in SectionHeadControl
Rob Poretti wrote: My Problem: I'm replacing the default min/max graphics with my own, and that works fine. The problem is that they are positioned 2 pixels lower. Prior to 3.1 the min/max icon was aligned properly with my skin. After the 3.1 update (which went perfectly), the positioning changed by 2 pixels. Further, when I install the same package on a pre 3.1 installation it looks perfect (it was designed with an earlier version of 3 - so it should), but installed on 3.1, it's misaligned. cniknet
