Web Service com port (serial) access
On the server there is a device that is connected to the serial port. That device needs to send an receive strings. These strings are sent and received from an asp.net page. Can a Web Service communicate with a com(serial) port and send and receive strings from an asp.net page? Can a Web Service be set to run on startup like a windows service? Thanks, Matt

ASP.net 2.0 com port access on server
Hi, I would like to write an application that users can log into via the internet. They can then send strings via a webform to a com port (RS232) on the server. i.e there would be a device that is connected to the serial port of the server machine. The device could then return strings to the webpage. That's the first part. The second part is, I was thinking of using AJAX to receive the data from the serial port to update the webpage to avoid the reloading the page. So basicly, the idea is a user

Re: Datagrid "update" using data from boundcolumn visible=false
I had a problem similar to this, I think solved it buy using a TemplateColumn with a html input like: <input id="imgNameHiddenValue" type="hidden" value='<%# DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem, "imgName") %>' runat="server" NAME="imgNameHiddenValue"> Basicly it's just an Html input box with the type set to hidden. Then your can get the value of the control like this: StrFileName = ((HtmlInputHidden)e.Item.FindControl("imgNameHiddenValue"

Re: "immovable" Datagrid Header
You could put your DataGrid in an iframe or a layer without a header on the DataGrid and just have an html table with header information above it.

DataGrid and Codebehind
Hi, I have an aspx doc that contains my DataGrid and the script, I seperated the script into a codebehind file, but now the DataGrid won't display. It compiles ok. I'm sure this is a silly error can anyone spot it? Code behind file: using System.Drawing; using System; using System.IO; using System.Data; using System.Data.Odbc; using System.Web; using System.Web.UI; using System.Web.UI.WebControls; using System.Web.UI.HtmlControls; namespace inbeads { public class edit_item : System.Web.UI.Page {
