Re: www.smcculloch.net - Input string was not in a correct format.
The reason you get this with Add Module Definition is probably becauses you didn't specify a Default Cache Value . I'm pretty sure that is a known bug. I know I have encountered that problem, so I just enter 0 and it works.

Re: Skin Preview Error
This is a known bug. I've heard that it should be fixed soon.

Re: IE Displays "Operation Aborted" Error while browsing site in DNN 3.0.10
Yeah, I experienced this issue when I was at the max range of my wireless, when it would drop out some times and therefore be very slow, but I experienced it in 3.1, but I don't know if its a correctable problem, it appears to be an IE problem. Channel 9 mentions this problem briefly, and says that it might have to do with Javascript and innerHtml, so that would tend to make me think that it has to do with the menus, but not necessarily because of a bug in the menus, but something about slow loading

Re: Possible 3.1 bug - password reminder for host
I would consider it more of a bug. Not that the functionality is not what was desired, but not what, in my opinion, it should be. It seems like it would be more appropriate to just give a message when you click the 'Password Reminder' button. Say something like 'Sorry, a password reminder is not available for this user' or something of that nature, that way people would be able to figure out 'Oh, I can't get this password' instead of wondering, 'Was my password all astericks' or 'Why won't it give

Re: Is your DNN book poorly cut ?
Yeah, I did notice this too. It's only on the first couple of chapters, and is not that noticable, but it's definitely there. I measured it from the horizontal line below the chapter name on each page to the top of the page and there is about a 2mm difference between the left and right side of the line.

Re: Problem Installing Modules On 3.1
dishmal, I was getting this same problem, and I think JWhite is right. When you click to add the new module definition you have to put in the name of the new definition, but you also have to put in a value for the Default Cache Time. It doesn't look like you need that, and there is no validation requiring it, but it is used in the method DotNetNuke.Modules.Admin.ModuleDefinitions.EditModuleDefinition.cmdAddDefinition_Click(). I'm not sure why you have to enter anything, I would think that if you

Re: Impressions about the new book?
I have been out of the loop with DNN lately, and found the book to be very good so far. Sure, it could be a little deeper, but I already have experience with a lot of the things it talked about and still found it helpful. I haven't read the whole thing yet, just the first several chapters. Even though I don't deal with the administration side that much, I mainly develop custom modules, I found it to be a good refresher course and general overview.

Re: Anyone have similar experiences with clients?
Yeah, but would you really want your clients to think that you can't write. Its one thing being a good copywriter, knowing how to hype and sell a product/service. Its another thing being able to write something coherent but that wouldn't necessarily be the most desirable copy. I don't require the people around me to be professional public relations or marketing people, but if they are writing things with obvious errors in them then that would tend to make me believe that all their work is error ridden

Re: 3.0.9 issue and fix -- preview skin in site settings/page settings
I'm also getting this problem, with a default installation, only more skins installed, on version 3.1 It seems like a problem this obvious and trivial would have been fixed by now.

Re: Module Coding Standards
I think its a good idea, a blueprint for people to start with. It would make understanding modules that you are not familiar with a lot easier to understand, but it only works if people want to follow the standards. Most people have their own standards, so it could be hard to change, but you never know.
