  • Re: Who's got the fastest DNN Site? Look'n for Speed!!

Compression and caching are both important because they do improve speed. Remember that both will increase the use of server resources, though. Remember that optimizing your home page is the most important (as shown on snapsis site!) as this is the first impression you give your visitors. In this case, compressing javascript and css files (even though only downloaded once) will still be an improvement. I've seen noticable difference with IIS6 compression and Blowery compression--they're easy to set

  • IActionable and module dispatch means no print, settings, move actions

At what point do the Print, Module, and move actions get added to the ModuleActionCollection? I have a module ported from DNN2 which uses the dispatch pattern to perform a response.redirect to a new page setting the ctl= to the control that needs to be instantiated. Even though I implement IActionable, my list of actions only contains the custom action and the help action. Where did the other items go that I expect to be there? Any help is appreciated. Tim

  • Re: Dnn Roadmap

I've been with DNN since 1.0.6 and have seen cycles like this before. I hope that as a long time user of DNN I can make a couple of credible statements. First, the core team has always been criticized for lack of communication. I'm involved in a number of other open-source projects and none of them get the same criticism. I don't think it is from lack of effort or lack of appreciation either. Suggestions: The DNN community would be well-served to recognize the achievement of the DotNetNuke product

  • Re: DNN 4 or DNN 3 any advice?

Unlike upgrades from DNN 1 -> DNN 2 -> DNN 3, the upgrade from DNN 3 -> DNN 4 should be pretty strightforward (from the database standpoint). Previous upgrades from version to version were easy for the core DNN bits, but custom modules tended to change between versions because each DNN version had different (improved) module support. The module support in DNN 3.2 & DNN 4 are very similar so modules that work on both should be very consistent. Stick with 3.2 if you're using anything outside

  • Re: Who is running 4.0.1?

I've successfully installed DNN4.0.1 on a shared HSphere host w/ MSSQL 2000. All looks good but I'm getting a script error when clicking the Update Password link when changing passwords. The error is: 'WebForm_PostBackOptions' is undefined. Tim

ChasinStanley wrote: try tyler http://tf.johndcooper.com Tyler Fawcett has some great designs (and showcases some of them in the quoted link above). He was the winner of the DNN2 skinning design contest and I still use that skin on one of my sites. Tim

  • Re: UPDATED: SVS - ServerStats free module (DNN 3.x)

Nice module--I was running a similar module from someone else on DNN2 and I've sorta missed it. Thanks for reviving it! This is a nice tool when you're running on a shared host to get a handle on how reliable the host really is! Tim

  • Re: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. PLEASE HELP!!

Unfortunately, this error can be caused by any number of different problems. Here are some things to check: Is your web.config valid XML (I once spent a day+ of time looking for a problem and the issue was that I hadn't close a tag in my web.config) Did your files upload to the server correctly (upload your /bin directory again) Did this site ever work? If so, what did you change? Can you change it back and try again? Had you uploaded a new module? If so, delete any .dll in the /bin directory related
