  • Re: First page loading speed

Has this been addressed in the current Beta of 3.* or in the final version of 2.*? I am preparing to recommend DNN to a client that has many users on SLOW dial-up connections and page size is critical. The application is mainly read-only so there is not really any need for ViewState (well, much anyway). Regards, Alan Josephson

  • Re: Solution Partners Menu Module Private Assembly

Jon, Thanks for the contribution! When I installed a module, I've noticed that the second level child menu (not the first child) in the default menu displays disconnected - half a screen away from the menu. Is this the thread to report bugs or do you have a separate forum? Regards, Alan

  • Re: Document and Download Security

This still doesn't preclude someone from sharing a link to the actual file once they've legally accessed it with unauthorized persons, does it? Another solution is to use an FTP site for downloadable files, where DNN maintains a secure login/password to access files at the FTP site. Regards, ALan

  • Re: Disappearing menu

    Jeremy, They have tried to access my site directly from the server and are seeing a run time error on line 517 with the output below. Does this mean anything? Regards, Alan m_oSPNode['1'] =new SPJSXMLNode('menuitem', '1', m_oSPNode['-1'], 'Home', '/DotNetNuke/DesktopDefault.aspx?tabid=1', '', '', '', '<img alt="*" BORDER="0" src="/DotNetNuke/images/breadcrumb.gif">', '', '', ''); m_oSPNode['93'] =new SPJSXMLNode('menuitem', '93', m_oSPNode['-1'], 'Technologies

Jeremy, OK I tried that but no difference. You can see the javascript error by visiting www.quadratures.com . I did a file diff with the generated page on my local machine, but they are virtually identical. Regards, Alan

  • Re: Disappearing menu

I am using the popupblocker built into the Google toolbar, but this is not the problem (I disabled it to check and, besides, the local DNN site works fine in my browser). Regards, Alan

  • Re: Disappearing menu

Yes, Jeremy, it is there and has OK permissions (I can even navigate to it directly in my browser). I know that this is the problem though since when I run the JavaScript console in Netscape 7.0 the javascript error is its inability to find spm_initMyMenu(). I am stumped. If I am able to navigate to spmenu.js directly through the browser, shouldn't the ASP application be able to find it? WebHost4Life tells me that ASPNET is the correct user, but I've given the user SYSTEM access for good measure

  • Re: Disappearing menu

Doesn't seem to work. I've changed the permissions for users ASPNET and NETWORK. *** Does anyone have any ideas about how to tell exactly what javascript on the page is failing so I can diagnose the problem? I'm desperate as I have a customer is currently down because of this. Regards, Alan

  • Re: Disappearing menu

Another clue is that I am getting a nondescript javascript error on every page - "Error: object expected." I have not altered the page generation at all. Once again, works on my local web server but not on webhost4life in a 1.1 ,NET virtual directory. Regards, Alan

  • Re: Disappearing menu

As I said this, works fine on my local machine's deployment so I doubt it's the browser. I am running into other problems with the site's not finding aspx, ascx files (eg the ftb.* files) so I imagine it is a permission problem (the files are there). Anyone know which users to grant permission to on webhost4life to work with .NET 1.1? Regards, Alan
