Re: can no longer connect to localhost in VS 2005
Right click on the hosts file and go to properties. On the securities tab, click edit, and give the users account full control. Scott

Re: Sizing issue with basic silverlight 2.0 control (Driving me crazy)
I thought I tried that, but apparently I didn't because it worked like a charm. Thanks!

Sizing issue with basic silverlight 2.0 control (Driving me crazy)
I have a very simple silverlight 2.0 user control that I am displaying in a sample webpage. The control needs to be pretty small and in this example is a 150x150 orange rectangle. The problem is that when I display it in the web page it shows up as a 150x150 rectangle but the entire silverlight control is 190x190. So there ends up with a 20 pixel padding all the way around my rectangle. If I make the rectangle anything bigger than 190x190, then there is no additional padding. Its as if you're

Capturing an Image in Silverlight
Hi there, I have a silverlight application that allows the user to drag and drop an image into place. The image is typically a photo. The goal is to drag and drop the photo so that the face of the person in the photo is inside a red rectangle (the red rectangle stays fixed on the page, while the photo is dragged behind the rectangle). When this is done, the user clicks the "Capture" button, and the image inside the red rectangle is saved as an image and used as that user's profile image

Re: AJAX Modal Window Flash at Load Up Time
Ok, I admit you make some good points. I guess I'm just thinking about my target audience and not necessarily the same target audience that you or others may have. Neither the government nor people with blackberrys interest me as a user of my website.

Re: AJAX Modal Window Flash at Load Up Time
Alright let's be real here. Do you know a single person that doesn't have a browser with javascript enabled? Seriously, don't waste your time implementing the non-javascript scenario. If someone comes to your website without javascript enabled, they probably don't need to be using your website anyway.

Re: Restoring web control via session variable doesn't want to work
Thank you very much. The approach you described here worked for me as well. Previously I had the treeview declared in the .aspx page itself and then tried assigning my dynamically created treeview to the treeview declared in the .aspx page. Now I only have the placeholder in the .aspx page and add the dynamically created treeview to the placeholder in the code behind.

Re: Restoring web control via session variable doesn't want to work
Hmmm, I tried setting enableViewState="false" on the treeview and it didn't work. Then I tried enableViewState="true" and that didn't work either. I'm not sure what else to try. Anyone have any other ideas?

Restoring web control via session variable doesn't want to work
I have a treeview object in a custom web control of mine that is accessed by most of the pages in my web app. The first time it calls the page_load function in the web control's page class it builds the treeview just fine. If I navigate to another page that uses the web control, then it is supposed to reload the treeview from a session object, but it doesn't seem to work. When I step through the code, it appears to work, but the page clearly is defaulting to what the treeview would look like

Re: Sys.WebForms Error on Calendar w/in Update Panel
I was receiving this 500 error because I was loading in values from a database and one of the values I was loading had a value of "<NA>". The page threw an exception because it thought that the "<NA>" value was some sort of xml injection attack. Disabling eventvalidation would fix it, but that is not the proper way of going about it.
