On one of the samples in the toolkit
I was testing out WebApplication1 in the following folder C:\VS2010TrainingKit\Labs\AspNetAjax\Source\Ex01-ClientSideTemplates and in addition to several validation warnings there was a run time error. The only thing I deviated from the explanations is that I used the Version 5 of Microsoft ASP.NET Ajax javascript files. Line 4, Char 21680 Error:Name in the MicrosoftAjaxTemplates.js file should this make a difference?

Re: put sql data into excel file
Use SQL Server Integration Services. Use a ADO.NET Source connection and a OLE DB Destination Excel Connection. Get a copy of my book and it is real easy. It is featured on my blog: http://hodentek.blogspot.com

Re: How to do charts
Here are three articles I wrote recently on MS Chart Control that is relevant to ASP.NET 3.5. BTW this is the latest Chart version from Microsoft. These articles shows you step by step how to go about displaying the data stored on your SQL Server 2008 in the chart. The emphasis is on learning the basic skills. You have both VB as well as C# codes to help you along. You also have example of design time configuration which does not need any code. http://dotnetslackers.com/articles/sql/Importing-MS

Re: MS Chart Active X Control in Asp.NET
From what I understand MS Chart ActiveX control was shipped for using with VB6.0. Microsoft has released a new MS Chart Control which can be used with both Windows and Web Applications. You can get a good grip on this by reading these 3 articles I wrote recently, http://dotnetslackers.com/articles/sql/Importing-MS-Excel-data-to-SQL-Server-2008.aspx http://dotnetslackers.com/articles/aspnet/Microsoft-Chart-with-ASP-NET-35-Part1.aspx http://dotnetslackers.com/articles/aspnet/Microsoft-Chart-with-ASP
