The following H2O Forms have been added to the Repository on www.OnyakTech.com for free download:

Using Parameters in SQL Statement Enabled Controls in H2O 3.x: A Sample H2O Form that displays the current users Call History from SigmaLive. The purpose of this form is to demonstrate the use of parameters in controls that accept SQL Statements.
File Upload Control Sample for H2O 3.x: Sample H2O Form that uses a File Upload control. Note that H2O also allows users to attach files to items in the tab control. The purpose of this File Upload control is to be used when you are using an H2O Form in a module configuration where only the Form is displayed.
Display Files attached to Items in SigmaPro Draconis with H2O 3.x: This sample H2O form uses a data grid to display information on another module in your DNN Site. In this form, we display a list of all files attached to items in SigmaPro and list the Project Name, Item Name, File Name and File Size.
Auto-Insert User Details in H2O 3.x: Sample H2O Form to show how to have H2O auto-insert values from DNN about the current user filling out the form. This type of use was added to H2O allow you to connect user information with other tables in your tables. For example, if you have a CRM system and the customer posts a meeting request using an H2O Form, H2O can auto-insert user information so that your reports, emails, etc. are correctly joined with other user information in your system.
User Registration Form for H2O 3.x: This form is be used when you want to allow unregistered users the ability to register an account on your site with H2O and/or to allow registered users to update their account through H2O. Details on the configuration is in the Forms Description.

H2O 3.0.12 has just been released. This version contains new controls and a powerful new feature that allows you dynamically generate a custom email notification list used when new forms are posted. Subscribers and H2O owners can download now at no additional cost from the Members Area on www.OnyakTech.com.

Use the custom email notification list feature to notify users of a new post based on values entered into your form. For example, if you are using H2O for a Job Posting site you can now notify your users when a new job is available within their location or area of skills.

Radio Button List and Radio SQL Button List controls have been added to H2O to make it easy to provide single select options from a static list or from a SQL Statement.

It really depends on the specific features you need. H2O does track all changes to all fields in the form and they are visible by clicking on the History tab. So yes, H2O can track changes.

Do you think H2O is the right module for creating a workflow application to track changes & schedules for home building? Currently it is laid out using excell, but there is no archive information & the data is only available locally. Any ideas on pointing me in the right drection....

I just want to point out, that even though XMod is the top selling module on SnowCovered it doesn't necessarily mean it's the top selling DotNetNuke module. Many modules are sold on several sites where Xmod is only available in one location, so you shouldn't use that metric as a means to decide on what product to go with. For example, product A may only be sold on SnowCovered while product B is sold on SnowCovered and four other sites. Within one month, Product A may have been sold 300 times while product B was sold 200 times on SnowCovered and 600 more times on all remaining sites. In that situation, product A would appear as the top selling module when in fact it is not. In other words, the snowcovered top module list can be misleading.

For comparison, XMod uses XML for data storage while H2O uses SQL Server Tables. XML is much more resource intensive and takes longer to process.

Also, H2O has the ability to directly connect and sync forms with an existing SQL Server Table that existing in any database within the SQL Server instance.

XMod requires developer skills while H2O requires none (unless you need really advanced forms.. then the option is there to go beyond).

That's really about all I know in difference since I've never used XMod. The only reason H2O exists is because several OnyakTech Subscribers requested a module to be developed that is like XMod but uses SQL Server Tables instead of XML so that it would be easier and faster. They also wanted the ability to have changes made to the table automatically appear in H2O and changes made in H2O automatically appear in the table.

Since then.... H2O has grown and is used for a lot of different solutions.

xmod is very full featured but stores data as xml in a non-relational structure.. meaning no foreign key ability...

Where is the download available?

I know this may be off topic but I have to ask... I am looking into creating a module that will track home building workflow. There will be different phases & superintendents will need to print weekly reports as well as magers will need to see the data @ any time. It looks like the OnyakTech module bundle is going to be a invaluable tool for doing this. Does anyone have any suggestions for me? I was also wondering, what is the differences between H2O & XMod. Xmod is always listed as top seller on SC... How do these products compare?

That's a great idea. I'll add that in along with some new ways to link forms with other forms and other modules.

Shane have you downloaded 3.0.9? If you don't have a subscription, the upgrade to 3.x is free for one week.

These are great enhancements!

It would be great to have tokenized control over the directories used by the file uploader. Maybe this version does already, I haven't checked it out yet.

Some more changes released in 3.0.7....

Searching: A new search function has been added to the master data list view for those using it. If you have specified a filter in the project details, this search function is not displayed and your filter is executed. The search function displays a list of all fields in your form for the user to choose when searching.

Custom ToolTips: All tooltips are displayed in a new pop-up to give your forms a more modern and professional look.

Register Startup Script: This is a new control type that registered the Java Script code you enter into the H2O Script field to the end of the page.

Register Script: This is a new control type that registered the Java Script code you enter into the H2O Script file to the top of the page.

File Upload: This new file upload control allows your form users to upload files into your form. Note that if you also display the forms control panel, your form users will also be able to upload multiple files to the Files tab. The files in the Files tab are stored in SQL Server. The files uploaded using this new control are saved to the H2O directory in your portals home path.

There is also a change to the file names when downloading forms and projects. Forms now end with .Form.h2o. Projects now end with .Project.h2o.

And.... six new sample H2O Forms have been posted to the Repository on www.OnyakTech.com. These forms use the new scripting controls to register Java Script. A new user manual is also available.

I have released yet another version (minor version so it's free if you have 3.0) that has the following new features:

New Data Grid control: Enter your SQL Statements into the H2O Script field.
SQL Statement tags. Use to create dynamic sql statements to gather information about the current user, portal values, active tab, etc.
You can now rename H2O forms when you upload them from an *.H2O file in the Forms list.
New option to remove all H2O screen processing and display just the H2O form. Use this option when your H2O form is informative and doesn't require any additional processing except the form itself.

Brian! 2.1.7! There have been a LOT of improvements since 2.1.7, go to www.OnyakTech.com and download the latest version.

Yes, with the "External List" control you can use a key value pair or just a value. This configuration is dynamic based on the SQL Statement you enter in. For example... if you use the following SQL Statement to populate the control....

Select UserID, UserName from Users

Then H2O will use UserID as the value and UserName as the text to display in the list. The value is stored in tables of your form. You can also use...

Select UserName from Users

With this statement, H2O will use UserName for both the value and the text.

I also just uploaded version 3.0.3. This version has a new control property that lets you set the Default value for a control.

And... a new forms designer and rendering engine. This new engine is MUCH easier to use. Check it out and let me know what you think.
