Don't think you have to pretend to be a programmer. See this post for instructions on changing your skin object.

A couple revisions ago, when I changed this delaysubmenu to be the default setting, I got a hugh backlash on performance. Since this error doesn't affect everyone we are left with a decision...

Kill everyones performance in order that some people don't experience this IE specific bug, or keep everyone's performance intact and risk a couple user's getting this IE error.

Hey guys,

I know this sounds too easy, and maybe it is, but try updating your server... if that is a possibility. I had the same problem you all did; i am using a w2k server and dnn 3.0.10. I updated the server and bingo!

Again, I know it sounds too easy, but it worked for me.

Wow,

Sorry I guess I forgot to mention I'm no programmer. Everything you just explained to me is above my head. I use the default DDN blue skin with Default DNN containers. Too much HTML? There is always too much ;-) . Only what's contained in the conatiners I guess.

Curious question, what skin are you using, and does the page you are using have a lot of html?

to answer your question about fixing it. All you need to do is apply the DelaySubmenuLoad="1" attribute to your menu markup in your skin.

This has been a debate on whether we want to "penalize" all sites with this slowdown of the sub-menu rendering, when it appears that only a few sites experience the issue...

Hi I still get this error with 3.0.10 more often than before.

As a very happy enduser, will the core team fix this for the RC or do I have to pretend to be a programmer and edit files which I fear may crash my system due to my lack of programming knowledge?

I am running 1.4.0.0 of SolPart and just started having this problem. Changing the spmenu.js as you indicated above has fixed my problem as well.

Keep in mind that you don't need to install the module, you can simply take the solpartwebcontrols.dll and spmenu.js file and copy it into your folders. The core menu system and my module both use my menu.

you can get v1.3.0.6 here or here. Not sure where you are getting 1.3.0.3 from.

As a side note I am hoping to release v1.4.0.0 this week.

I also have 1.3.0.3 and see no this.submenuload. I'd had this error, and posted a thread on it, but it died a silent death, and still have the issue...any help to fix this before I make these sites public would be much appreciated...

I'm getting the IE "Operation Aborted" error on a site I'm building, and found this thread.

Jon, you say the latest version is 1.3.0.6 - but searching your site, etc. the latest I find is v 1.3.0.3 ! I opened spmenu.js for editing, and didn't find the line: this.delaySubmenuLoad blah blah.

What gives? Am I missing an update to the menu?

CORRECTION.

This should be a change like this



this.delaySubmenuLoad=(spm_getAttr(o, 'delaySubmenuLoad', '0') != '0' && spm_needsSubMenuDelay());

and change it to



this.delaySubmenuLoad=spm_needsSubMenuDelay();

only "penalize" the menus that need to...
