I have tried as you written in forum but i got a error in ascx file...

and the error is on controled that i have declared...

@ Control language="vb" Inherits="Infynita.Modules.ServiceRequestLoginuser.ViewServiceRequestLoginuser" CodeFile="ViewServiceRequestLoginuser.ascx.vb" AutoEventWireup="false" Explicit="True" %>

above my ascx file and my dll is : App_Web_viewservicerequestloginuser.ascx.c3a55c45.dll

can you plz tell me how can I edit my ascx file..

Do check if the dll is in the bin directory, maybe you forgot to added to build support project?

Just to toss in another source of the error...

I was firing up a fresh installation to modify the Repository module because I don't like the Back/Next link buttons. I installed it, overwrote the source in the directory, opened the DNN.ALL solution, added the module and provider, got everything sorted out then compiled. So far so good.

I then added the module to a blank home page and got the MinMax error. Anyways, checking the settings I had another error. Turned out that somehow permissions didn't get inherited and forcing the right permissions on everything sorted this out right away.

Anyways - permissions... Just one take on the error.

I got this error today. Everything works fine on my local dev box. I created the package installed on server and now I get this.

Well, off to try this tool and see what happens.

That's funny you should mention it. I fired up your tool and that's how I resolved this problem. I've been using your tool for a long time... it's wonderful (DNN should have something built in that does this). Thanks for creating and sharing it! The DNNDebug page is truly an indispensable part of debugging DNN pages.

I got this error. There was an error on the .ascx page where I was passing one too many arguments in a method call. However, fixing that didn't seem to resolve it right away. When trying to debug the page, it suddenly dissappeared.

But in my IIS-asp.net tab, it is ASP.NET version 1.1.4322, but I still have this problem.

Seems something else wrong?

I had the same error and this was my solution

DNN 3.2.2 running on a server where ASP.NET 2.0 is installed, so when you created the web site, it automatically defaulted to ASP.NET 2. In IIS, open your web site properties, go to the "ASP.NET" tab and select ASP.NET version 1.1. This will fix the problem.

I had the same issue, and it was related to namespaces, sorta. I built a custom module using DNN4.0.2 and VS2005. I did a precompile (Publish Web Site) so that all of my code would be in dlls. I put my PA together and, for some dumb reason, I pulled the ASCX files from the project instead of from the published files.

When I placed the Module on the Page I got the error talked about here.

During the publish VS replaces some code in the ASCX page. Here is the replacement it made in my case:

From

Inherits="MTB.Web.DNNModules.DataEntry.ViewDataEntry" CodeFile="ViewDataEntry.ascx.vb"

inherits="MTB.Web.DNNModules.DataEntry.ViewDataEntry, App_Web_viewdataentry.ascx.418c884d"

The replacement points to the dll that was created for the code behind file.

I have not tried yet, but I bet this would mean that I could change the name of the dll that VS assigned as long as the change was made in the ascx file.

When I used the ASCX files from the publish all worked fine.

When logged in as the HOST superuser you should be able to see LOG VIWER under the ADMIN menu.

Once you get to the viewer itself double click on the error you are interested in and it should expand so you can see the details.

Login as admin or host, goto admin and you should see log view on the Admin tab. This is the log viewer that everyone is talking about.

I got the same mistake and I believe it will be solved by checking the namespaces, as it was suggested in several posts.

What I would also like to know is where is the log viewer option? How can I see the execution errors?

It could be a namespace issue here. I am assuming you are building the 3.x modules for a 3.x portal. The files problem that was being discussed was mainly associated with dnn4.x. I would suggest checking your namespaces in your project. I am betting that you do not have a namespace 'BenRosa.DNN.Modules.HelloWorld.HelloWorld' I would think that its one less HelloWorld and the particular problem area that you are looking at might also be in the Inherits statement in you ascx file. If you look here it will probably say something like:

Inherits=" BenRose.DNN.Modules.HelloWorld.HelloWorld"

in which case it wants the class too. Your class might be something completely different that what its calling (in this case HelloWorld). So if you look at the .vb src file associated with that you might see:

Public Class MustInherit YourClass (I am not sure of the default here for the templates but I think its the project name)

where your class is not HelloWorld. If you change either your ascx or your vb to make them both match this could clear up your problem.
