a quick way to do this would be to write a small module (or skin object) that checks the "referralURL" to see if it came from the site that you want it to come from or the child site. If not, redirect the browser to the parent site.

For example: www.parentportal.com has a child portal www.parentalportal.com/childportal

If a user types in the www.parentalportal.com/childportal url they go directly to the child portal, but I want the child portal to only be accessed through a link on the parent portal home page.
