problem with paging in crystal report

hi Friends

.NET web application uses Crystal Reports for Visual Studio .NET as the reporting development tool.

When clicking the 'Next' navigation button while on page 1 of the report, page 2 appears. However, when clicking the 'Next' navigation button while on page 2, page 2 is returned again.

Why is page 2 returned instead of page 3 and how do you resolve this issue?

Bar Chart With 2 y-axis

I am trying to create a chart that is a mix between a bar chart and a line chart, that has a y-axis representing some values on the left and a y-axis representing some values on the right. I have been successful in creating the bars, lines, and the right y-axis but I am having trouble formatting the x-axis. Specifically, the bars go past the 2nd y-axis on the right side of my graph. Does anyone how to fix this problem??

I congratulate the people behind the creation of the RSK. Beautiful sample app which gives me the hope that maybe there is a way of creating proffesional web reports without having to use Crystal or any other third party software (which some times can add full new set of trouble and complications, specially when performance is at stake).

This sample app shows of many neat things that can be done just using pure dotNet controls and components. But as usuall, the million dollar question is allways the same: how to create reports to be printed consistently accross different clients and printers. Is anybody aware of a tool that can transform on the fly an html report to another format that is more printer friendly, for instance PDF?

ReportViewer Data Column

Hi Folks,

How do I populate a value in a column in a ReportViewer with a child item of a dataset value? For example, I have a Parent item called 'Payables' and a child of that item called 'InvoiceRef', I thought it would be something like:

=Fields!Payables["InvoiceRef"].Value

Can anyone please help me out on this one?

Report viewer control - Change column order dynamically

I am using .NET report viewer control. I am adding columns in RDLC file at design time and binding the datasource to the report.

Is it possible to change the column position at runtime?

For example

Scenario 1 : Col1 ,Col2 , Col3

Scenario 2: Col3,Col1 ,Col2

I want to change the column position at runtime.

Hi,

Recently I'm working on RDLC reports.While applying format to a text box I got problem.

The scenario is as follows:

There is a field called PHONENUMBER in the format (613)215-4567 and which is of type CHARACTER.

I'm getting the phonenumber as 6132154567 from database.Hence I want to apply the format style so as to get the correct format while displaying.

Until now I'm doing it like:

1.Converting the phonenumber from character to double

2.Then applying the format thru properties of textbox by giving like (000)000-0000.

Is there any other direct function or format to convert directly from character type of phonenumber to the above mentioned format(displayed in bold format).

Avoid -Report viewer Opening new blank IE window while exporting to Excel

I am using report viewer control to export data to Excel. It is opening a new Blank IE window when i export the data to excel.

In the address bar it shows like this. http://localhost/........../Reserved.ReportViewerWebControl.axd?Mode=true&ReportID=bea5041ad2f14807adfcb0b5fb1e8430&ControlID=8df388b508f64534b4f756b09b281b01&Culture=1033&UICulture=1033&ReportStack=1&OpType=Export&FileName=Export&ContentDisposition=OnlyHtmlInline&Format=Excel

I have to close this window everytime i generate a report.

How to avoid opening this IE window?

Adding Line Charts To the tool

Hello All,

I found a way to make this starter kit generate a line chart, which was initially what i was interested in. So, I thought to publish that here to make it available for everyone to use.

Here is the way,
In the BarChart.vb, I added "DrawLines" method(code below) to generate the lines between the points, and i called it from the Draw() method in the same file (and possibly you can make a select statment to choose between the calls to DrawBars method and DrawLines method). You can control the thickness and color of the line from this line

Dim blackPen As New Pen(Color.Black, 2) ' where first argument is pen color and second is the line thickness.

You may also want to add the line chart option to the compo box in the default page of the project ;)

That is all, I will be happy to hear your feedback about that, any bugs or questions about the code.

Problem Exporting Ms Report(invoice) to PDF or Excel

Hi there,

I have created an invoice in Ms Report and when i try to export it to pdf or Excel (using the tool bar function) i find that the invoice does not fit the page. i tried to make the report smaller untill i couldnt. i also tried to check for some properties but with no solution. even when i print it, it cuts the report into two from top to bottom.can some body tell me what to do here please.

I had the Reports starter kit working fine, then I tried to make a copy that I could customize, and I started getting this error:

Compiler Error Message: BC30560: 'Global' is ambiguous in the namespace 'ASPNET.StarterKit.Reports'.

Source Error:

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling multiple times, clearing out the VSWebCache and ASP.NET temporary files, searching the registry but I can't get rid of it.

Exporting to Excel - Data in Nested controls not displayed

I am working on a .NET 3.5 web application using Report viewer control.

I am using Matrix control to use nested controls. I am using a Textbox inside a List control . The list control is inside a cell of matrix control.

Cells in first column will have one value and second column will have a list of values in the Listcontrol one below the other.

1 --- A

2. -- X

When Report is exported to Excel Data in the Nested controls is not displayed in Excel.

How to export data in nested controls to Excel?

Change XSD path at runtime in Crystal report

I have created the crystal report with xsd and through code I set the dataset to the report ( setdatasource())

My report at C:\folder\x.rpt

xsd at c:\folder\z.xsd

It works fine, but when I put this both file at some another place.

Suppose I put it at

d:\folder\x.rpt

d:\folder\z.xsd

it doesn’t work, it give me

rowset error c:\Documnet…\Temp\{23435466grh76u}.rpt. Invail argument

I tried to set the CrystalViewer.ReportSourcepath = “d:\folder\z.xsd“. it give me same error.

but when put the only z.xsd to its original place (c:\folder\z.xsd) report works.

I like to change the z.xsd path at runtime. How can I do that.

I need your advice and i will apreciate any help!

Which reporting tool to use on architecture like this: My Linux server run under Ubuntu and ASP.NET application will work on Apache web server, using Mono. Database will be Oracle XE. I need some reporting tool for ASP.NET, which is compatible with previous architecture. CONDITION is that reporting tool will be open source.

Is there some reporting tool for this scenario?

Merging cell only when duplicate values exists

I am using .NET 3.5 reportviwer control to export a report to excel. I am binding values from a Dataset.

I am using Hide Duplicates option to Hide duplicate values in a column. Data is present only the first cell and it is hidden in the othere cells below it.

I want to Merge those cells in to a single cell and vertical align the text to centre.

How to merge cells in a column if it has duplicate values?

I also want to highlight the border when the next set of records begin? (that is at the end of the group of merged cells)

We have been using Crystal reports for web reports and it has been a pain in the rear because of stability issues. We are now trying to switch to SQL Reporting Services and it works great with basic straightforward reports. We came upon a road block when we tried to format parts of a field to be bold. Lets say the field has the following value: "The quick brown fox". How can you bold the word "brown" in SQL Reporting? I know in Crystal you can do HTML or RTF Text interpretation where it actually knows how to display html tags and it can bold certain parts of a field. Is this even possible in SQL Reporting Services?

Currently, my graph is displaying the bookings for all years. The dropdownlist shown is not working.
