Develop Conference App for mobiles

Hi guys,

I get involved in developing a conference Web Application for mobile devices (uses Windows mobile) . The application allows number of people to take via text messages.

I need URGENT advices. so, Anyone has experience about that Please tell me the architecture of core idea about that.

Web Site .NET C# for mobile - Error in session ?

Hello,

I've developped (with visual studio 2005) a web site in C# for mobile (it was with framework 2.0).
I've used "Web Form Mobile" pages.
When I browse the site with a navigator (like IE) it's working fine. With a Blackberry it's not.

I have very often this error :
"Exception Details: System.Exception: The page requires session state
that is no longer available. Either the session has expired, the client
did not send a valid session cookie, or the session state history size
is too small. Try increasing the history size or session expiry limit"

Finding out that the Blackberry not seems to be able to keep the identification cookie, I tried to use (in web.config) the mode "StateServer" instead of "inProc" with the proper service running. Now it doesn't loose the identification cookie, but still shows errors 500 or 504 (same message as before) and a new problem : the page asked is not actualised ! You have to manually launch "Actualize" to refresh the page and see what you were supposed to see ! And if you don't the error shows immediatly...

I've read anything I could on the subject but I'm now really out of ideas...

Does any one have some experience developping in C# with session for a Blackberry ?

May be the server "BES" (which is used by the Blackberry) is the cause of our problem, but no answer yet...

The "Enter" Key does not fire the onkeypress event in "Select" objects in Windows Mobile Internet Explorer

Hi Everybody!

I have an odd problem, and I was wondering if anyone could share some light about it. In a nutshell, I have found that the "Enter" key does not fire the "onkeypress" event of a "select" HTML control when using Windows Mobile Internet Explorer.

As you may have guessed already, I have a web server running an application in ASP.NET where different kind of computing equipment connect to, including PC's and Handhelds. PC's work fine, as well as Windows CE and Pocket PC's handheld devices. But when it comes to Windows Mobile, a particular control in a web page fails to process "enter" keys.

Here is the summarized web page:

In layman terms, the user selects an option from the list of options shown, and then he presses "enter" or "z" to submit the form (I added the "z" for debugging purposes, in order to verify that the script is correct and it is being processed). All Microsoft's operating systems process this well, for the exception of Windows mobile, in which case the "z" triggers the event while the "enter" key does not.

Any help is greatly appreciated!!!

I want to build mobile site but I need some advice.

I have already build standard desktop ASP.NET application, I want to make new folder where I would make mobile ASP.NET pages so that I can use classes from ASP.NET desktop.
Desktop application is , for example, on domain www.mysite.com on my web host server.

Now, I want to make a subdomain on my web site host, for example mobile.mysite.com, so that users can go to mobile ASP.NET application.

Can someone give me some advice how to do that, what is needed, I am beginner, so some help I would appreciate.

Detecting the mobile device

Hi there

In the default.aspx at the root level, we put Request.Browser["IsMobileDevice"] to detect the MobileDevice and according to user who is using Mini Opera as a browser and it didn't redirect to /mobile directory. Any ideas? I don't think this detection is sufficient enought to detect that?!?!

Any other approach?

I am totally new to the mobile world. I have done asp.net web sites in VS 2005. Now I need to start writing for the mobiles.

Can someone recomment any good tutorials, videos, books to get me started quickly?

sites that I can download sample code would be great.

I have to write an application that will dynamically display a list of information like (dpt, arv, flight number) , the user clicks on a list and then i go to a more detail site.

I need it to work on multiple device so I was going to use the window web forms and I also read something about templates so you can use the normal web controls.

Any help would be appreciated since I have to have this done ASAP.

Web page display problem on Mobile IE 6.5

Hi,

I have problem when I display a table on Mobile IE 6.5. There is a table (width=100%) with icons and texts. The display is fine on IE (desktop), Mobile IE 6.0. However, in Mobile IE 6.5, the page displays very wide and I need to scroll horizontally to see all the table content.

The code is very simple as this:

Do anyone see any problem? Do I need any setting?

quickly put, I'm new to developing for the mobile platform. I've looked around online to resolve my issue, but keep going around in circles. I'm trying to apply a HeaderTemplate to my objectList, however, when I do apply one, my list dissapears. Also, once I have added a control to the HeaderTemplate, how to I find it using findcontrol?

Testing for phone browser rendering bugs

Is there a good way to test for rendering bugs on different phones that doesn't involve having actually owning one of each phone? I am currently porting over web based .rdlc reports to be viewed on mobile devices, and while the reports are rendering fine on my Palm Treo, they are not rendering correctly on some of the other phones.

This seems like it could be a real maintenance nightmare, as there are so many different phones with their own proprietary web browsers that it would be nearly impossible to fix, or even verify, all the rendering problems that will be reported as "bugs."

It would be really nice if there were a simulator that could render a page through the various web browsers, but I guess that's a "dream on" idea... right?

Why would a <%# eval %> act link a link field in mobile browser?

I have a data field in a <ItemTelplate> defined as

On a desktop, it acts as a label, but when viewed with an iPhone, it acts like a link. Any explanation for that behavior?
