hi everyone

i was getting the same error when i was running my program and left it idle for some time and when again refreshing the page i was the getting this error....

i read too many forum and find that the reason of this error. as Eilon has mention that it stored value in to Hidden field and in the encrypted format. after lefting it idle for few moment if we are refresh the content it will try to execute it with new key which is not match with the older one that's why its producing this error.

One of my aspx page has 2 GridView. The 1st GridView has 2 TemplateField LinkButton columns. Clicking the 1st LinkButton column will redirect to another page; clicking the 2nd LinkButton column will display data on the 2nd GridView.

The following errors are encountered sometimes:

1) Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManagerServerErrorException: Validation of viewstate MAC failed. If this application is hosted by a Web Farm or cluster, ensure that <machineKey> configuration specifies the same validationKey and validation algorithm. AutoGenerate cannot be used in a cluster.

2) Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManagerServerErrorException: An unknown error occurred while processing the request on the server. The status code returned from the server was: 403

I've remove DataKeyNames from the gridview; set enableEventValidationl="false" in web.config. But still couldn't reslove them.

The gridviews have <asp:BoundField> columns. Can I sitll use the <asp:BoundField>?

These errors are driving me crazy. Would really appreciate any solutions or further pointers on how to reslove them.

ViewStateEncryptionMode="never"

So this stops all validation and encryption, opening my site up to malicious code.

This is a solution? How about something credible?

to whom it might help,

I saw this error for the first time in my life, but soon discovered the solution.

I had an imagelink and imagebutton in my Login control which uses a postback url.

I simply changed it to Hyperlink and set the redirect page, and this error was gone.

I have read a lot of posts about imagebutton and imagelink causing this error.

Add EnableViewStateMac="true" tag on every page as given below which will help you to solve ur problem.

Like this:
<%@ Page Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeBehind="Default.aspx.cs" EnableViewStateMac="true" Inherits="WebApplication1._Default" %>

i use visual studio 2008 sp1 and framework 3.5. When i send my website to host, will i see same error ?

Or this error only for framework 2.0 ?
