I have deployed a website containing a few reports developed using the ReportViewer control and visual studio 2008.It is working fine in the developed PC. I'm getting the following error when the reports are deployed in Windows server 2008.

Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.ReportingServices.ProcessingObjectModel' or one of its dependencies. Access is denied.

I have even tried installing Microsoft Report Viewer Redistributable 2008 and coping the following dll's to the application bin folder

Microsoft.ReportViewer.Common.dll
Microsoft.ReportViewer.WebForms.dll
Microsoft.ReportViewer.ProcessingObjectModel.dll

Hi,

I am using ReportViewer control in Web Form to render reports in Remote mode. Two questions:

1. Can I use Reset method to cancel a in-processing report? I tried set AsyncRendering to True or False and put a button on web page to trigger a postback. Then call Reset method from Code-Behind. But no luck. Code to call Reset method seems only be fired after the report is finished.

2. When a report is in processing (the ReportViewer is hosted in a separate popup window) I cannot navigate on the popup's parent page. Looks the parent page is blocked by the child which is hosting the ReportViewer.

Hi,

I am using SQL server reporting services for one of our projects.

I am using ReportViewer control and LocalReport in asp .net for displaying the report.

Everything worked fine in my local machine as well as in the test server.

But when we hosted the website in live, the report is showing an error:

404 - File or directory not found.

The resource you are looking for might have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.

Please give assistance to resolve this issue.

Change culture in rs2008

in rs2005 i had a file name: reportViewer.aspx in which i could change the "culture" attribute.

Is there a file like that in 2008?

My problem now is that I'm writing in hebrew and signs like "(" and ")" are showen in one direction localy and in another direction when on server.

Reportviewer: calculate average from calculated percentage fields

Hopefully this is really simple: I have created a report (web based reportviewer) which shows the calculated scoring as a percentage above each column of answer scores (grouped by date). Next I want to calculate the average of the calcuated percentages for all the columns using the calculated percentage fields.

So if column 1 has calculated percentage score of 100, column 2 with calculated percantage score of 0 and column 3 with calculated percentage score of 100. I want the average to be 66.66%.

How do a calculate the average from the previously calculated precentages (not from the actual answer scores)

Using ElseIf in SQL Report

I am brand new to SQL Reporting and trying to create a conditional statement in code that includes ElseIf clauses. I'm noticing that the program doesn't seem to pick up on the ElseIf statements. I have the following code on the code tab in my report properties window.

The problem is that even if b727 and dc8 are true, it stops at b727 and displays "B727" instead of "B727, DC8". I also have tried to build an expression with nested IIF, and get the same result.

Page width and Dynamic table size

Hi, I'm new with reports and having a bit of a problem with an extra page showing up.

I have a table with many columns, it goes past the width of your average 11in page. But some of these columns will ALWAYS be hidden, which means the final table size will always fit on the page. Now this has left me with a problem because there is always one blank page printed because of this.

I figure I can fix this in one of two ways, one would be if there was a setting that forced the page width to be "1" page. I tried "fit in page" for the table, but it didn't work.

The second option would be to set the columns very small, then allow them to grow. My problem with this is that when they export to PDF they are still very skinny instead of the new grown size.

Any thoughts are appreciated!

ASP.NET session has expired for a remote processing report

My reports are built in Reporting Services 2005 and published in Report Manager. The reports are then displayed by ReportViewer control in ASP .net c#. Everything works fine in Report Manager, Development and local sites (within the network). After published to Production site (external), it always gets session expired error as below:

ASP.NET session has expired
Stack Trace: at Microsoft.Reporting.WebForms.ReportDataOperation..ctor() at Microsoft.Reporting.WebForms.HttpHandler.GetHandler(String operationType) at Microsoft.Reporting.WebForms.HttpHandler.ProcessRequest(HttpContext context) at System.Web.HttpApplication.CallHandlerExecutionStep.System.Web.HttpApplication.IExecutionStep.Execute() at System.Web.HttpApplication.ExecuteStep(IExecutionStep step, Boolean& completedSynchronously)
Please check log for more information.

The steps have taken to avoid long time running the report:

On .ASP .NET

Did not set sessionState Timeout on web.config file.

On the Report Manager:

Try to set no timeout or set the session timeout limit to 3600 seconds
Set to cache a temporary copy of the report .
Schedule dynamic subscriptions to run large reports.

On the Report Design

Set the autoRefresh time to 3550 seconds. (Report Properties ->autoRefresh)

The reportViewer control:

Reportserver with parameters and grouping

Hi there,

I have a report that uses a group and visibility (i.e., we can click on an item that than opens up to show details).

I have now set up an ASP.Net page (using C#) that shows this reports, and using this functionality it works fine. However, when I add a parameter to the report it no longer works correctly from my ASP.Net page: it shows the initial report, but when I click on an item, it refreshes the page and then shows the initial report again, so it does not show any details.

This issue has been driving me crazy for the past three days, and I can't find any similar issues anywhere. I hope someone can help me....

More technical details:

- The report is embedded in a file called Default.aspx, using the following code:

- When I omit the parameter code, the url, after requesting the details, shows someting like : http://.../Default.aspx#30. However, when the parameter code is included, the #30 never shows in the URL bar. Just mentioning this because it might have to do something with the problem, although I would not know how to influence this behavior.

Display 2 images in one table row in rdlc

Does anyone know if it is possible to have two images in one rdlc table row? I want to use images for my checkboxes. I'm using the visibility property of the image to display or not display based on if the value is true or false. I want to be able to show an empty checkbox when the value is false, and a checked checkbox when the value is true. Everytime I try to drag a second image into the row, it deletes the first image I added. Any ideas on this?

(I would use the Wingding font to show checkboxes, but I need the checkboxes to display correctly when they are exported to PDF or Excel.)

How to impersonate the user and send those credentials?

VS2008 project breaking Reporting Services Project

I have an existing web server, where I have tons of "classic" asp pages. This server is also running Reporting Services 2000, which a bunch of existing reports. I am in the process of learning ASP.NET, and want to add an ASP.NET project on this server. In VS.NET 2008, I'm going to:

File -> New -> Project

Visual Basic -> Web -> Asp.Net Web Application

Target platform is .NET Framework 3.5

Once it creates the shell of the project, I publish it (without making any changes whatsoever), selecting the unc path to my wwwroot folder. Once published, the Default.aspx page thet VS.net created loads fine, as do all of my existing ASP pages. However, When I try to access a reporting services report, I get the following:

Configuration Error

Unrecognized attribute 'type'

It shows the source of the error is in wwwroot\web.config, line 7

Line 7 is:

One thing I tried to resolve was going into IIS and changing the ASP.NET version for both the "Report Manager" and "Report Server" virtual entries. I changed them to the latest available (2.0.50727). I have 3.5 installed on that server, but I have read 3.5 will not show up as an option in the IIS control panel dropdown, so I don't think that's it). Anyway, after I change it to 2.0.50727, the error changes to:

CS0234: The type or namespace 'XML' does not exist in the namespace 'System' (are you missing an assembly reference?)

The error is still in web.config, line 57:

Per suggestions found on the web, I have added a reference to System.Xml.Linq and republishing, but it has no effect.

ReportViewer Excel Export issue

Hi Everyone!

I have a report that contains customer detail information at the top in a series of textboxes. A matrix of information and then an image of a graph at the bottom.

For some reason Excel places a 1px wide column between each of the textboxes at the top of the report, even though they butt up against each other (verified in the properties).

These additional columns are causing my users untold grief when they try to use the data in the matrix. I have verified that the positioning of each of the report elements aligns vertically so it isn't because of different vertical positions between elements on the report.

I know it is the textboxes causing the issue because the always move to correspond with the right edge of the textbox no matter what I do.

I am not allowed to change the format of the report, but I need to figure out why these extra columns are appearing. We are still running reportviewer 8.0 (because 9.0 was causing us a lot of problems). Is this a version bug? Or am i missing some kind of property that would be causing this odd behavior.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

**UPDATE**
Well, I figured out what the problem was. Since my elements were positioned and sized using inches, the conversion to pts done by Excel was causing issues. I just resized and positioned everything using points and all is good in the world. :)

Subscription Signup Problems

"Subscriptions cannot be created because the credentials used to run the report are not stored, or if a linked report, the link is no longer valid."

I get this when trying to schedule a simple report I made using Visual Studio 2008 Report Wizard.

I've already done a decent amount of research on the issue.
I started with a Shared Datasouce using Windows Authentication.
I flipped over to the "Credentials stored securely" option immeadiatly upon looking up this error, no luck.
I then moved to a Custom datasource hoping that that it was an issue with using a Shared Datasource, still no luck.
I've already checked the report for any fields using User:UserID, the report does not have any fields like that.

I'm just not sure what to try next. I can't find any other information out there for that error message. And I can't find a way to pull more detailed error information to work with. This is the first report I've tried to get working, and it's a simple test that is about as basic as I can make it. I used the Visual Studio Wizard to create it and didn't modify any part of the report afterwards. It pulls up just fine in the Report Manager, but I can't schedule it because of that error message.

I am seeing an error in the History Tab of the report as well. If I select "Allow report history to be created manually" and hit Apply I get the error "Credentials used to run this report are not stored". Which is very frustrating because I have double and triple checked the datasource in the Data Sources tab of the same report; I am definitly using "Credentials stored securely in the report server". I tried looking up this error but could barly find anything out there on it, which makes me think I have a issue with the basic report server configuration.

Is there a way to get more error information from Report Manager, look at a table in the Report Database itself, or any other ideas on how to debug this issue?

RDLC report rendering on mobile device

I am trying to create mobile device friendly versions of our reports, and am having a hard time with different phones rendering the report incorrectly. My phone (a Palm Treo) renders the report correctly (the same as viewing the report with a standard IE web browser).
However, the rendering is apparently screwed up on my manager's phone (a Motorola). She sent me a picture and the table is condensed into very narrow columns, which causes the text to wrap after a few letters.

Since our current reports are all .rdlc report files, I would like to continue using the same format for the mobile reports. However, the generated markup of the .rdlc reports is quite bloated, and I'm frankly not surprised that some phones choke when trying render them.

Are there any fixes for this, or should I just abandon .rdlc for mobile reports and manually create the markup myself? I am not too keen on the latter, because I have already invested a sizeable amount of time on the existing reporting framework.

Also, if anyone knows of a good way to simulate the rendering of various mobile device web browsers, that would be nice. Otherwise, I have no way of telling which phones will render our site properly! How does anyone else deal with this problem?

Reporting Services LogonUser

I am trying to run a Reporting Services (through Webhost4life) report with FormsAuthentication. I am using these instructions as a guide to setting up the authentication process for the report:

but I am having trouble getting the ReportingService.LogonUser function to work. So far I have:

Dim svc As New MyReportingService (which is a public class inheriting webhost4life's ReportExecutionService)

svc.Url = "http://sqlreport01.mysite4now.com/ReportServer/ReportExecution2005.asmx"

svc.LogonUser ("MyUserName","MyPwd", nothing)

This gives me an authentication error. But if I open a web browser, go to that URL address, enter the same name and password as in the LogonUser arguments, then I am able to see the xml code on that page.

Is there something I am missing in setting up the svc? If I look at the properties of the svc object before I call LogonUser, everything seems to be filled in the way it should, so I have no idea what might be missing or what property of the svc might be set incorrectly.

Any help is appreciated.

I was given source code (SQL Server 2005/Asp.net 2.0) to upgrade to (SQL 2008/Asp.net 3.5), while I was looking at the code:

With the help of google and looking at the context of the code. I realized its relates to sql server 2005 reporting, I am alittle confused how SQL Server 2005 web service is setup or where to begin?

1) What SQL Server Reporting tool is used to create the service (in 2008/preferred or 2005)?

1b) Any links to detail tutorials?

2) Is ReportExection2005.asmx created by SQL Server? How is it made available via http (or exposed)? Is IIS involved?

3) If I want to import the service from the sql server 2005 box into sql server 2008, where do I begin? Where is http://localhost/Report Server/ physically on the server and the .asmx file?

4) Any special setup to expose the web service?

Unable to load client print control in SSRS

I have deployed a report on server and now my clients are viewing the report. The report is being shown using a reportviewer. Some of my clients machines are showing report properly where as some are giving the below error

"Unable to load client print control". What could be the problem. All of them are using IE6

JavaScript Error while calling a drill through report in a report viewer from a asp.net web page.

I am calling a report in a web page which is getting displayed in report viewer. This report comes fine but when I click on it to see the drill through report for this parent report the drill through report does not get displayed and I see a JScript error instead.

The error I get is something like,

parent.document.GetElementByID(...).ClientController is not null or not an object

The aspx page that contains the report viewer inherits from a master page that contains an Update Panel.

I tested the report separately in SSRS and the drill through is working fine there.

Can some one please provide any inputs on this one?

How to stop prompting for UserName Password when I click Report Server Web Service URLs

I am using MSSQL 2008 RS. Express Edition of SQL Server 2008 in Windows XP SP3.

When I click the Report Service Web Service URL it is prompting for username and password. How to stop this?

I have not set any username and password. Why am I being prompted for these then?

Same for Report Manager URL.

I tried too many things without luck.

Please help.

I'm displaying .rdlc report file using Report viewer control on Webform. If I Fix height of viewer control and data is not same as to size of viewer control then it display one scrollbar on viewer control and second vertical scroll bar is coming on webpage.

I want to off viewer vertical scrollbar or in simple word's I don't want to display two scroll bar with my report. Please guide me or send me reference if any.
