The registry changes worked perfect.
I deleted all keys in that Installer\Products folder that said: MS SQL Server 2005 CTP ...

I had the same, where I kept getting the 'incompatible' message box.
The solution I found was to download and use the VS cleanup tool (vs_uninst.exe).

This can be found at:

You will then need to reinstall the .NET framework 2.0 and then install SQL 2005 beta.

I had this problem too (i did a full install of VS2005beta2 and had the june CTP of sql server). I obviously blew away everything in my registry that had "sql 2005" on it, but i also had to blow away framework 2.0 beta 2 that came with VS2k5b2 and let sql 2005 sept. CTP re-install it.

The problem is in the registry.

please delete the next keys:

I successfully installed VWD and the .NET 2.0 Beta Framework on my computer. Shortly after I downloaded the SQL Server 2005 setup exe and got the following error while trying to install:

ERROR MESSAGE

"Microsoft SQL Server 2005 CTP Setup
SQL Server 2005 has detected incompatible components from beta versions of Visual Studio, .NET Framework, or SQL Server 2005. Use add or remove programs to remove these components, and then run SQL Server Setup again. For detailed instructions on uninstalling SQL Server 2005, see the SQL Server 2005 read me."

I've tried to circumvent this problem by installing SQL Server 2005 Express as an additional component while installing VWD, but it doesn't install correctly that way either. There has to be some type of incompatibility between the .NET 2.0 Beta that installs with VWD and SQL Server 2005 Express. Has anyone else rua into this problem and been able to fix? I need help?
