I finally found the solution with a Google search (on a borrowed computer). Turns out that my winsock had become corrupted. Since fixing that, VWD seems to be doing better.

Re: unable to connect to Visual Studio's localhost web server

Hi,

To better understand your issue, please confirm the following information:

If we create another type project, does it have any issue?

Do any virus software in your machine to prevent Asp.Net Development Server? If so, you can try to reconfigure your virus software.

You also can try to refer to http://connect.microsoft.com/VisualStudio/feedback/Workaround.aspx?FeedbackID=102138

I hope this helps.

Re: unable to connect to Visual Studio's localhost web server

Visual Web Developer 2005 Express

Re: unable to connect to Visual Studio's localhost web server

which version of Visual Studio you are using??

unable to connect to Visual Studio's localhost web server

I just started getting the above message, with a second error, stating: "Asp.Net Development Server failed to start listening on port 1110." Anyone with knowledge of this problem, please let me know.
